From the May 23rd, 2007 edition of TV Guide's Ask Ausiello ... Question: So, what gives? There is no way you could still be at Fox's upfront party. Did you track down AS-P, and, if so, what were the final four words she had in mind for Gilmore Girls?— Katrina Ausiello: OK, here's the deal: Yes, I tracked her down, but, no, she did not cough up those elusive four words. But wait — there's more. And it's good. No, amazing. No, un-frakkin'-believable. Amazing, even. Wait, did I say that already? Well, it's true. Because just as I was about to brand her a big ol' promise-breaker right there in front of all those industry types, Amy explained why she couldn't divulge her long-ago-planned Gilmore ending. (Gilmore fanatics: This is the time in Sprockets when you either lean on a heavy object or just sit down.) In the next year or two, she hopes to make — wait for it — a two-hour Gilmore Girls TV-movie that ties up all those loose threads! I nearly fell over when she said it — especially given what she told me back in December. (BTW, lest you think Amy was pulling my leg, her partner in life and in showbiz, Dan Palladino, confirmed that a GG reunion pic is something they're interested in pursuing.) And I wasn't the only one floored by this development. "She said what?" gasped Scott Patterson after I relayed the information to him over the phone. "I didn't think she would be interested in doing something like that. But if she says she is, I would seriously consider it." Alexis Bledel was equally stunned. "A Gilmore Girls reunion?" she said with a laugh. "That's certainly not something I had thought of doing. That's really funny, I have no idea how I would feel in a few years. I don't know, I'm sure the script Amy would write would be great, but I guess I'd have to read it and see how I felt at the time." Last but not least, Lauren Graham e-mailed me late last night to say, "Could be a fun idea if everyone wanted to do it. I would do it just to get the four final words out of Amy. They torture me." Stand by for a comment from Warner Bros. big cheese Peter Roth. In the meantime, head over to the Ask Ausiello Discussion Thread and start brainstorming campaign slogans! Interesting, two weeks ago I kept on asking: "What was the CW thinking?!" now I'm asking: "What is ASP thinking?!" . I don't get it. She's the one who turned her back on GG. We're in this mess in the first place because she wouldn't stick with it and now she wants to swoop in and become a hero? Or is it she really hated seeing everyone so upset about the series finale lacking closure? Still two hours is not going to be enough either. I seriously doubt she can pull of things we really need to see in just two hours. If she is willing to do a two-hour episode then why not make it 11 and then add a two-hour series finale? I'm confused How does she expect this to air? On tv, in the theaters? If on TV then she needs to deal with either the CW network or find someother network that can work with the WB studios.

I don´t want a Gilmore Girls movie and I wouldn´t watch it either, even if Amy produced it!!!!!!!! I just want more seasons and Amy as the producent!!! Lauren, Scott and Alexis want the movie??? Than they can shoot season 8, too!!!!!!!

I wrote this in reply to the same post on the spoiler board but I'll add it here too: Once again Alexis doesn't seem too keen and Lauren won't do it without her.

I don't understand Alexis problem with this- unless she really wants to get away from the role of rory, but serious, with such a not great series finale, you would think that they would all be keen to do; especially with a A S-P script

If we don't get an 8th season, I would settle for this. Especially if AS-P wrote and directed it.

^ I agree...i would DEFINATELY settle for this if there was no 8th season. I think that's great, and they all sound like they want to do it. Although I would like to see how AS-P is going to pull this off (I'm sure she can) because I think that there's more than 2 hours needed to "tie up the loose threads". well i guess we just have to wait now!

Don't like the idea one bit. Things are done, two years from now we'll look back and see that the show has run its course and there won't be a need for a 2 hour movie so far after the fact. AS-P said she didn't watch this entire season but now she wants to correct it? Seems a little too late with too much time gone by.

It would be great to have a GG movie!! I'm up for it just to see how Amy would have played out the show. I'm hoping that we will see L/L married, if not, getting married in this movie. That's all I really wanted at the end of the show. I really didn't like how they ended Season 7. There were alot of storylines left unfinished and I think that the movie would finally give us a close to the show. At least, if this movie does end up being made, the cast/crew would get a chance to say "Goodbye" to one another since they didn't know when Bon Voyage was made it was going to the end of the show.

if we aren't getting our season 8 i'm soooooo freaking happy about this!!! especially since season 7 kinda sucked in terms of gilmore girls writing... i'm so shocked though... that doesn't seem like an ASP kinda thing... but hell if she wants to than more freaking power to her....!!!!
I'm sure she has so much planned because as you remember she went to the execs at the end of season 6 and wanted a contract for another 2 season and they didn't give it to her, so that means she had it all already planned out...oh i'm so excited to see what she's going to come up with... maybe she'll write a few more books to go along with it too!!!

I think two hours would be enough to tie things up. Most likely the movie would not pick things up exactly where the series ended--some time will have passed, so an assumption could be made of progress in the lives of the characters. Maybe it would pick up at the point of the presidential election completed and Rory completing her stint on the campaign trail with O'Bama--she would then be more mature and ready to start a new phase of her life (renewed relationship time with Logan maybe??). This would also have allowed enough time to go by for Luke and Lorelai to get their relationship on solid ground again -- and get them to the point where they could get married and start a family.
