This may be an unpopular opinion but perhaps a movie will actually create more unfinished business than it will resolve? I agree with bingbong in that the only thing that wan't completely settled was L/L, and I'm not a fan of marriage so I can use my imagination to tie those two together without the need for cake or tule.
Thankfully you are another member here who doesn't see the need for the movie. Having a movie so far into the future about events that happened two years prior just don't make sense to me. And a wedding in my opinion, with the planning and showing Lorelai and Luke walking down the aisle is so not 'Gilmore Girls.' A soap opera maybe, but certainly not the show.

I wouldn't care if there was a movie if David would have ended the storylines properly. The finale felt to me like a season finale not a series finale. Amy should make up for leaving and not sticking with the show and finishing it the way she wanted to all along. I hope there is a movie so we can all have a proper goodbye.

Actually I'm kind of pro-movie now. Another week without a new episode has me experiencing withdrawl pains and I'm dying to get any Gilmore fix I can. If the flash forward two years and we don't see Rory on the campaign trail, just back at Stars Hollow, I'll be happier. Otherwise IMO it's too many new characters and relationships to build which in the two hours with so many concurrent storylines will leave it feeling hollow and incomplete. Although I'll wait to be worried once I know that everyone's signed onto the screenplay. I'm not going to get sucker punched again like I did last time when I was certain we'd get a shortened season 8. I'd absolutely love either a movie or an 8th season, but I'm guarding my hope in case of rejection again.

I have to admit i'm starting to feel the same way! Well, i guess i'm going back & forth. I was satisfied with the finale and fear a movie in a couple of years would just open cans of worms. But part of me would luv to see the Girls back in action. There are so many great characters on the show, even after 7 seasons it seems a shame that they will never "live" again!

Maybe marriage, maybe a child (Lorelai's pushing 40 and better get moving if she decides she wants another kid)
Not necessarily. She still has another 20 years. That woman just had twins at age 60. That was a joke. And yes, I am still anti-movie

Lorelai is pretty incredible, who knows what she is capable of? I just wonder if Luke will be able to provide the "goods" at that advanced age.

Maybe not a rumor but more like a hoop dream. AS-P has expressed a wish to do it. We all know that wishing and getting are two different things.

Sort of OT but I’ve heard rumors that Sex and the City may finally be making their reunion movie. I think they went off the air in 2004? Maybe late 2003. So 3-4 years later and sure enough. Just a feather in the cap for AS-P might be onto something here. I assume we have a long wait either way. To those not interested or anti-movie, would you watch it if it did become a reality? I’m just curious Because I do think the storylines were wrapped up nicely but I sure as heck would watch it and love every minute.

I also read an article not long ago about a Sex & The City movie possibly becoming a reality down the road. I am on the fence about the need for a GG movie, but i would without question watch it. I've seen every other episode, so why not? I agree with you that the story lines in the finale were wrapped up nicely, in fact i thought the finale was the best episode out of the entire 6th and 7th seasons. But the thought of new GG is too tempting to possibly resist.

I think two hours would be enough to tie things up. Most likely the movie would not pick things up exactly where the series ended--some time will have passed, so an assumption could be made of progress in the lives of the characters. Maybe it would pick up at the point of the presidential election completed and Rory completing her stint on the campaign trail with O'Bama--she would then be more mature and ready to start a new phase of her life (renewed relationship time with Logan maybe??). This would also have allowed enough time to go by for Luke and Lorelai to get their relationship on solid ground again -- and get them to the point where they could get married and start a family.
exaclty what i was thinking. ASP could not just pick it up at the end of the season (note:Roty would not be there) It would be nice to see this i need the closer...mostly with Luke and Lorelai

I hope that this really happens. It would be a little weird to have a Gilmore Girls movie, but I guess it would be just like one long episode. It would be so great to be able to tie up all loose ends and maybe show them in the future a few years from now, I hate when you get left hanging. So even if we cant have another season, or even a shorter season, please let us have two more hours!
