Summary: Feeling bad that her relationship with Dean (Jared Padalecki) has become awkward, Lorelai (Lauren Graham) suggests that she and Luke (Scott Patterson) double-date with Rory (Alexis Bledel) and Dean, but the evening turns ugly when Luke is unable to disguise the fact that he thinks Dean isn't good enough for Rory. Meanwhile, Emily (Kelly Bishop) and Richard (Edward Herrmann) are lonely and a little lost without one another, but neither can take the first step toward reconciliation.

Does anyone know why ABC Family showed this episode after 5.03 (Written in the Stars)? They completely skipped 5.04, which seems strange, because I figured they would show all the season 5 episodes in the right order.

Why don't you like Dean? Why do you say he 'sucks? Can you explain it a little rather than just saying 'he sucks'?

Do you not like Dean at all in any episode or just in this episode?  Because, of all Rory's boyfriends, I think Dean was the nicest.
He always treated her well.  He built her a car. Made her a bracelet. Went to a dance when he didn't like dances. Escorted her to a cottillon.

I don't think it is a good idea for them to get back together - especially since he married Lindsay. But, I do think he was a good friend to her.  He just doesn't fit in her world.  And, in this episode, he was perfectly polite.

It was Luke who got out of hand...though, I basically like Luke.  He does have a bit of a temper and a protective streak when it comes to Lorelai and Rory.

Agh I've been looking for a song featured in this episode, but as I don't know what it's called, or who it's by, or err even any of the lyrics that's proving to be a little difficult. I viewed the music section of the website but it only goes to season 4, so if anybody could help me with some suggestions I'd be most grateful. It was an extremely melancholy song, and the vocalist sounded sort of like a young Johnny Cash, if that helps any. Please please please!

It might be "Maggie's Farm" by Bob Dylan   Smiley

Luke was funny in this episode. When he kept talking about Dean's slacks,"Hey, you wanna pass the popcorn there buddy?", and when he won in Bop It Extreme. lol

This is one of my favourite eps of GG. To see the tenison between Luke and Dean rise throughout the ep was entertaining. Loved the bop it scene. Cheesy
