Shot it dead? They've been together for three years and their breakup looked like her breakup with Dean. Logan might choose her over his first real job offer, or she could move to San Francisco without marrying him. They ended it in one conversation that suggested that, for all her claiming to belong to him, she was never as serious about him as she was about having all her options open.

I'm not saying it couldn't be, just that if Rory's too young to pick a man for life, maybe Logan is too young to force the issue for keeps.

Edit* Dead Silence. Okay, at the very least, framing it against her mother's failed marriage sets Logan up to be Rory's Christopher, and every time she tries to do better in the boyfriend department, she will be able to break it off easily, knowing that somewhere, Logan still carries a torch under the avocado tree.

Which break up with Dean?  There are so many to choose from.  Although in the end the relationship with Dean is deader than dead, too.  (And, so's the one with Jess, unless Rory wants to risk blowing up when his super powered alter ego explodes New York - maybe)  But, unless they plan to do a big fake out one episode later, I don't see any signs of resurrection here.  And, what would be the point of the pretty final, we move forward or we don't move at all, only to change it in the last episode?  To be fair, I didn't see the point of this (the break up) either, so maybe they will be pointless in a way to put them back together, but I'm not betting on it.  Optimism has left the building here.  It's doing the ghostly musical tour with Elvis and Jimmy Hendrix.

I honestly don’t see how Rory being miserable just off a three year break up is a “good ending”.  Not at all.  And I wouldn’t exactly call Logan a jerk, he just put himself on the line in the most vulnerable way anyone can for the love of his life *sigh*

Well, it would be the height of stupid on the writers' part to imply in the last episode that Rory has gotten over the break up, since she said she was in love with Logan and wanted to try the long distance, so unless they really are morons, she'll have to have some sadness next week.  So, some ending.  And, they had Logan going on about how he knew everything would be okay if he had her, so he has to miserable.  Yep, it's going to be one pile of happiness in the finale for Rory.  What an ending.

That's my biggest concern.  I can live with the show ending, even though I'm very sad, I prefer shows to end while they are still popular rather than drag out.  That said, I have a sinking feeling that its not going to end well.  I want to buy the entire series, watch them for years to come and enjoy...

Is it just me or was some of the writing particularly Not Good...?  The breakup scene in particular....my sister who is not a huge fan, but does watch occasionally turned to me and said "wow the writing there was not good."  Very sad, it all seemed so contrived. It didn't fit, how do you go from "loving so much" to totally broken up....the script was just that, a script, it had no life and was almost as if the characters themselves couldn't figure why they were saying what they were saying...(if that makes any sense at all!).  Oh well, I'm spending way too much time analyzing a TV show...  Undecided

I really hope the series finale does the show justice, that there is closure.  I love both Lauren Grahan & Alexis Bledel and the other actors/actresses. They've given so much to this show.  I hope the series finale honors them and is one they will be proud of.

Holy hell.

KTLA (The CW's affiliate in Los Angeles) just interrupted Gilmore Girls to show breaking news about the Griffith Park fire.  I'm not trying to make light of a terrible situation, but this is bad news for us ratings wise.   Lips Sealed

In seven years of watching the show, this is the only time I can think of this happening.

So what, she's going to magically skip the pining and smile for her graduation party? I mean, there's rushed Lorelai-and-Christopher-are-married-woops-they're-not and there's rushed. And they so love faking us out. And when Lorelai refused to advise Rory, I could almost see her letter from "Just Like Gwen and Gavin" hovering in the air. (Is that in the season finale? Please let that be in the season finale!)

What's happening with the fire?

Oh my god.. The episode just ended for me.

I knew she'd say no to Logan, but why do I feel weird about it? It's like, somewhere I feel she should've said yes. But, Lorelai thinks she made the right choice.
Luke seemed real upset about what Lorelai said. It will be interesting to see how they come together in the end.
They can't end the season. I have to know what happens to Rory. If she ends up with Logan at the end, if she ends up with someone else, or if she ends up alone. && What are they going to do with Luke && Lorelai? I read somewhere that the writer of this season said he was going to have them married at the end of the season. That's probably not going to happen now.
This was a crazy episode. This next one has to be something big.

I think the writing this hole season was a mess. Like, they bring up things that they drop that fast, they drag out every episode, && they've broken the plans that I'm sure the old writers had for them.

I still can't believe the show is over. =( I grew up a "Gilmore Girl". It's so sad to watch it end.

Wow. Wow. Wow.

Again, I preface everything I say by acknowledging that this fire is terrible.  (I drove by it earlier today and it really is massive.)  But this is just bad, bad news for Gilmore fans.  I posted this just a little while again in the Great8Mandate thread ...

As I've said before, I am a Veronica Mars fan ... but let's be honest, we know what show has my true allegiance.  Wink

If there is to be any hope for season 8 (however small) ... Gilmore Girls needs to have had MONSTROUS ratings tonight.  HUGE.  Massive.  Colossal.  In addition, Veronica Mars, which airs right after our Girls, needs to have further dipped in the ratings department.

Start praying, rubbing your lucky rabbit's foot, tossing that penny into a fountain, whatever works for you.  Send out good vibes into the universe.   Clover

If anyone hears when they'll re-air the episode, please let me know.

Unfortunately also, GG's ratings were in perril tonight because the writing was a little off, AI was on, and a lot of GG fans are ticked about either Rory/Logan breakup or GG's cancellation that they might had decided NOT to watch this episode. Very sad to hear Heidi  Cry

It's like almost EVERYTHING was against this episode or GG tonight.

Um, call me a tap dancing chicken (calling someone crazy is so last year) but I didn't think ratings had anything to do with whether or not the show had an 8th season.

I am definitely not trying to deny that the fire is a HUGE deal. I know what it's like to lose your neighborhood to a fire. My neighborhood burned down in 2003 during the Lake Arrowhead/ San Bernardino fires.... It's really tragic.  I am just super dissappointed that The Gilmore Girls isn't on tonight, since we have been hyping up the episode all week and as you mentioned, the ratings tonight are a huge deal.

You can try calling the KTLA station and ask them when/if they will re-air the episode.  I know its been done with other shows.  Not sure about primetime shows, but I know that soaps usually air the eppys late night if more than a half hour of it was interupted...so everyone in the LA area should try calling in and asking them and i'm sure the more calls they get the more inclined they will be to re-air the eppy either later tonight or sometime this weekend.
