this is one of my favorite episodes, but here is something i don't get....

emily spent most of the beginning seasons trying to get luke to admit he likes lorelai and vice versa, and it seemed (at least to me) that she was implying that they get together....so if they're finally, why does she have this huge problem with it? Huh

She was trying to get them to admit it but remember when she pestered Lorelai and she finally said "maybe i do like him" and then Emily said "ok now we can talk about what you could possibly see in him" So she just wanted to know or wanted them to admit it but she doesn't like the idea of them being together because she doesn't think Luke is good enough for Lorelai! She's a big snob lol

By far, this is one of my most favorite episodes! (Obviously, look at the sig) I love the idea of a secret society. And the period that it's set in (or relates back to) is awesome! I love those dresses the girls wear. Such a great epi!

i thought this episode kind of marked a turning point in rory's life. before this episode, she was very quiet and reserved, not all the time, but for the most part. she wasn't much of a risk taker, and it seemed as if she knew her place and stuck to it. but when rory starts following the life and death brigade to get the story for the yale daily news and then begins spending time with logan, it's like she's slowly coming out of her shell and taking risks she wouldn't have taken before. then, by agreeing to jump with logan at the LDB event, it was like rory was jumping off her own preverbial cliff into the great unknown. from this episode forward, we see rory go from being a goody-goody to doing a lot more of the drinking and partying college girl activities. even her clothing style and hair/makeup choices have changed a good bit since meeting logan and being at yale.

This has to be one of my favorite episodes ever. I just loved the feel of it. Oh, and of course the umbrella jumping. Mine, along with many others, favorite part of the whole episode. Logan really made me smile.

This is definitely a classic episode.

I loved the moments of Luke being introduced to the world of the Gilmores.  Lorelei getting all frantic and Emily making subtle remarks towards Luke's background and such.  Poor Luke, unaware at first of the insults.  Then having to go golf with Richard and getting his diner franchised and numbing himself with whiskey.  Lorelei must've comforted him greatly and he probably cried after this horrific event.  Emily definitely doesn't seem to like him very much.

***SPOILERS***

In the virtual Gilmore Girls Season 8, Emily seems to be accepting Luke a bit more as he's become a regular in Friday Night Dinners while managing to make himself fit in with their posh world with his knowledge of boating making Richard a bit jealous because Luke got an offer to be a member of the Yacht Club.  In the most recent episode, 8.17, Richard offered the Planet Earth DVD to Luke for April to watch as Luke acted very grateful to him.

It seems the Gilmores are starting to accept Luke as they've also taken a liking towards April.  Plus, there's a great moment in a Thanksgiving episode where Richard is watching football with T.J.

***END SEASON 8 SPOILERS***

Lane & Zach's relationship is fun to watch as they see Stop Making Sense together, great rock doc.  I also recommend The Last Waltz and Dont Look Back.

I loved Rory going into the Life & Death Brigade thing and that thing with the umbrella at the end was great.  I loved the lighting at the nighttime wood scenes.  Overall, a great episode that was funny and sweet.

I love Logan but when he says "You can have the light Ace, I won't need it" my brain always adds "because the sun shines out of my ..."
That said this is one of my favourite episodes, to the point where I think that the dvd might start skipping.

Haaaa...totally agreed Katie.

I enjoyed this episode as well...it was good to see Rory do something so impulsive. Last time we saw her act on impulse like this was when she skipped school at Chilton to visit Jess in NY and missed Lorelai's graduation!

Poor Luke...I'm glad he never franchised Luke's Diner. That would have sucked.
