I'm thinking Dean's story line ended, and he is the high school boyfriend Rory outgrows and leaves behind. There's no place for either him or Jess in Rory's life when she grows up and goes off to Yale.
The actors found other work
AFTER
their characters were written out of
Gilmore Girls
. It's what actors do. They have agents who continually look for work for them, and if an actor is "hot", he may walk off one set right on to another. Jared and Milo were each contracted for a certain number of eps, and their agents would be looking for new jobs for them to begin as soon after their contracts expired as possible.
Logan is Rory's first college boyfriend, and he is far more mature and stable than the two high school kids. Were the show to continue long enough, Rory would graduate and go out into the world and find an adult man in real life and leave Logan behind, altho some college romances endure and become lifetime situations.

I don't think Dean should have broken up with Rory over that night. I mean, he had a right to be upset, but not just break it off! But Logan is way better and more interesting then him anyways. I laughed so hard in this episode! With TJ in the corner crying, Zach talking about how Lane's Mom said he was going to hell, and Emily and Richard being all giddy on the speakerphone. This is a good one.

i'm glad Dean decided to end it. there was no he would have been able to compete with Logan. my favorite part was mrs. kim attacking zach at the newspaper stand. it was soooooo funny.

i also thought the tj crying, zach explaining being attacked, and emily and richard on the speakerphone were great moments. this is definitely a great episode. i enjoy watching this one over and over. it will never be boring.

I think Dean realized as Rory eventually did that the relationship wasn't working. Dean was looking for something different while Rory is still out trying to conquer the world. Honestly it felt like completion and closure of their relationship. It would be weird for them to get back together at this point. I don't believe they would fit with where they are both at in their respective lives.

your right though dean and rory getting back together would be weird!still wanna see him though!

I love the fact that Rory was trapped with that one guy and Logan pretended to be her boy friend. ("Goin' on a year and a half") That was not only FUNNY but sweet and nice. And I'm glad Dean left her. He was getting pathetic. I mean, he works 3 jobs, lives with his friend, and can only manage sandwiches, chips, and warm soda in the back of Dosies grocery? Good lord. And after he did that Logan was like "Okay guys, let's do it. We've got to cheer her up." And they did! I also loved it when Logan yells "FINN!" Rory goes "Finn's here?" and Finn, indeed, is there. I love Finn! I think it was sweet when she was all upset and even though they got her drunk, they took care of her. Dean doesnt deserve Rory. Logan does. He always will. Plus, he gives her free Cocoa Puffs.

In this episode, Dean and Rory's high school remants go away. She is Yale student and still is hanging on to an old flame. Dean has no place in Rory's life and they both need to move on. But, she ruined Dean's married and that completely threw everyone for loop. She brought Dean back into her life and then pushed him out again.
Dean had always tried to get Rory again and try to conquer that mountain ,but he realizes that the relationship wasn't working. They both needed to move on with their lives.

My thought on this episode start with Rory and Dean I agree that there worlds did not fit anymore and that it would only drag the show down if they stayed together. I mean most scenes are at Yale now so it make sence to bring in Logan a young boy a writer some one right up Rory ally. I think the twist is going to be great and were going to see the good and bad in Rory. This was a great episode one to always remember another BIG CHANGE in the Gilmores lives. As for Luke and Lorli they showed great love for one another in this episode.

i'm watching the series straight through for the first time. i just finished this ep. i assume this is the end for Dean, because i know he's in Supernatural in Season 6. which is sad, cause i always pictured them together in the end, but he's definitely gotten more pathetic and doesn't fit into Rory's life anymore. sucks to see him go like that though, so cheaply. i'm sure she just moves on like nothing happened, too.

i don't think he broke it off because he was upset, i think he just realized they didn't fit anymore, and that was that. he had an epiphany, and there was no use continuing the relationship. still sucks though.
but i like Supernatural, so it's ok
