Gilmore Girls Only: After Rory has a fight with Logan, she decides to go to North Carolina with Lorelai for Mia's wedding, and Emily decides to drive them so she can go to a nearby spa. Meanwhile, Zack and Lane invite Luke to dinner, and Zack begins to lean on Luke for advice on being a father.

It was nice to see the 3 Gilmore girls spending a weekend together.  I liked at the end that Lorelai was trying to reach out to Emily.  I hope they are able to have a good heart to heart (sober!) and resolve a lot of the issues between them at least before this season is over.

It was weird to see Luke a little freaked out by Zach turning to him, but I like how Zach seems to look up to Luke.  I'm glad Luke came around in the end and told Zach he would be a good father.

Favorite line was when Lorelai asked Richard if he was having lunch with Tony Soprano!  Cheesy

What was wrong with Emily when she was standing in the door of the hotel room?  I thought it was a very touching moment when L was talking about how sad it would be when R leaves, and acknowledged to her mother that she might understand what she felt.  It gives possible insight to the fact that despite their "troubles"  L really does know that she is important to her mother.

I'm half way through and I'm LOVING IT! Funny, funny, FUNNY! My three favourite characters in a car together, all that interacting. Love it. x

Update: Wasn't Mia like in her 60s or so when she first appeared a few seasons ago? I'm glad Rory put Logan in his place. She needed to do that and he needed to hear it.

Update 2: I liked Logan's apology moment and the fact he quit his job at his dad's company.

Update 3: Good ending. I liked seeing them all together on the bed.

I was kind of bummed about this episode, I thought there were going to be flashbacks of Rory and Lorelai's childhood. Oh well, thats what I get for relying on spoilers!!

thoughts:

- I found the whole lets go to Mia's wedding plotline random. I just don't see how she fits into the overall picture. I mean I know that she was a surrogate mother to Lorelai and I suppose that is important, but I didn't feel there was a reason to bring her character back into the picture. It's just like the writers are running out of scenarios to throw the girls into. If there's only six episodes left (assuming there isn't an 8th season) then Mia's reappearance in the storyline seems like wasted space.  Plus I was way preoccupied with the fact that Kathy Baker (who played Mia this episode) was an awful actress, it irked me.

- Rory's storyline needs to pick up too. I hate seeing her get in these fights with Logan and then just have them wrap up neatly at the end of every episode...I feel like I'm watching the Brady Bunch; where's the conflict people!!! How many times can she fall for the extravagant apology by Logan. She said it herself, that the whole fly in and apologize thing wasn't going to work and then she just changes her  mind and forgives him. NOT COOL. Rory is someone that sticks to her principles and she is just folding every time she and Logan get into a skirmish.

- Logan quitting the Huntzberger Group = predictable. I've been waiting for him to have that epiphany since we first met Mitchum.

- I just feel as if we're all waiting for something big to happen, and I think it will every episode, and then bam nothing happens just a lot of filler. Almost like busy work you get in class. It's as if the writers are saying, "here let them chew on this while we think of something smart, witty, and interesting to put in the show". I'm starting to get a little fed up.

Overall, I'm still not quite sure how I feel about this episode. annoyed? perturbed? just happy to see the girls? It looks like things are winding down for the show, storylines are starting to come to an end (Logan vs. Mitchum) and even Emily and Lorelai to an extent. We get it they have a bond, its an unspoken one, how many times do they have to show this!!!

I'm stressed...I need a drink now lol.

My estimate is, by the time I finish, I'll be the 14th person to have posted.  Should I count Lorelai's comments about Emily being embarrassed so she had to leave as another retcon?  Or just an elaboration on her comment to Emily in Emily in Wonderland, that she was very unhappy when she had Rory and needed to get away, and that her unhappiness was partly because she felt she was an embarrassment? I don't want them to imply that she left in a snit, because it was too big a decision for that.  Still, I'm glad they continue to show that Lorelai does reach out, even if she doesn't initially.  Going over to talk to Emily on the couch (and noticing before she went), asking her to stay in the motel (hotel?) room afterwards, and telling her that she got how hard it had been for Emily.  But, why would Rory finagle her way into making Emily go to the wedding?  I know it was necessary for the bonding and the Lorelai/Mia conversation, but Rory seemed to be so intuned to how Emily was uncomfortable with their relationship with Mia, you'd think she would feel Emily wouldn't be very comfortable being there.

Before I continue, can I say promo guy strikes again.  The implication was that the scene where Rory said girl's trip only or whatever was at the beginning of the episode, where she was still mad.  But, it was at the end, after the reconcilliation.

So, we get Lane's freakout early on in the pregnancy, and Zach's near the end.  I'm dense, because I could not really figure out why he was being so clingy with Luke.  At first, it seemed like he was looking for a surrogate dad, because his dad had walked out.  But, it was because he was freaking out about being a dad himself.

Definite parallels between Logan and Richard.  Both avoiding (Richard spending all his time watching golf and not wanting to go over any tax info, Logan staying out late and hiding from his dad), both Rory and Emily getting frustrated.  And, for those who practice the art of "someone behaves badly -dump 'em!" I thought Rory's way was much better.  She told him she loved him, but she thought he was being immature and was acting like a jerk.  I kind of wish they could have switched scenes from the one where Mitchum came and reemed Logan out.  Maybe just get a phone call and a recap from Logan to Rory at the start, and then the fight.  And, then show the conversation between Logan and Mitchum where he quit, because I think that was one that needed to be seen.  I would have liked to see Mitchum display a glimmer of pride before getting cold, rather than hear about it.  And, Logan realized that he had been wrong.  But, now what will his plans be?

7th post.  Anticipate a bad result, you'll usually be pleasantly surprised.  (I should write empowerment books)

man, I totally agree with you on that. But, the reason I think Rory forgave Logan this time, after she said she wouldn't, is because he made such a bold & brash move, which was something that needed to be done, and he realized that on his own, even after all the Colin & Fin time.

and as for Mia coming back in the picture, I think it was needed. I don't like the fact it was a different Mia, who I agree was a horrible actress  Angry....but she needed to come back in order for Emily & Lorelai to finally bond. It was random, but i'm not sure how else they could have brought her in, since she hasn't been on the show in quite awhile.

I am getting totally depessed though. each new episode means one less new episode we get to see. I really hope that they make a season 8....all the way through season 10 at least.

I don't know whether I liked this episode or not.  There were some funny quotes which reminded me of past seasons of the show.  They also added in the little singing by Sam Phillips that usually starts or finishes a scene..this also reminded me of past seasons.

I'm glad to see that Richard is in better spirits.  He's still acting odd and not caring about anything except for golf, but at least he's not moping around in his bathrobe looking depressed.

I wish they showed Lane go into labor.  They could have done a lot with that, it would have been hilarious with Lane, Zach, Mrs. Kim, and Luke all together.  Rory should have been there too.  I know she was in NC but she and Lorelai weren't even THAT excited about it.

- Rory's storyline needs to pick up too. I hate seeing her get in these fights with Logan and then just have them wrap up neatly at the end of every episode...I feel like I'm watching the Brady Bunch; where's the conflict people!!! I agree.  I'm tired of their stupid fights that only last an episode...what's the point?  There's no life lesson learned from it!  It's just Logan doing something dumb, Rory getting annoyed, Logan saying sorry, and Rory forgiving him without any real problems being fixed.

Personally, I don't think Rory should have been upset with Logan at all regarding his choices. It's not as if his life is directly impacting hers right now as far as business decisions go (unless she's thinking ahead to the future, but that I doubt). Some things should be thought and not said. It's okay for her to disagree with his actions and maybe even state that she is disappointed in him, but for her to just say that she's mad at him or imply that they're having "issues" is uncalled for, especially when things have been really going well with their relationship the past few episodes. I know I said early I was upset with her giving in and forgiving him for his actions, and I still stand by that. My feeling is, if you're going to make the effort to be upset with someone (even if they don't deserve it) follow through with it, don't be wishy washy.

And on another note...how about Rory doing something to cause conflict in the relationship instead of always having Logan as the bad guy??

Lorelai and Rory watched "The Lake House". Liz references "The Lake House" at the beginning of the season, saying that she(Lorelai) and Luke are like Keanu and Sandra's characters, living too far apart to really work together.

Anyone else notice this?

Yes, Lane in labour would've been awesome. There were some great comedic moments between Mrs Kim and Lane lost there. Oh well. Maybe they'll do a memory episode next week; perhaps Lane can tell Rory what happened and they'll have flashbacks?
