5.12 - Come Home

Summary: Rory (Alexis Bledel) is totallly bummed when Logan (Matt Czuchry), whom she helped write an article for the Yale Daily, doesn't return the favor by inviting her to be his date at a book signing party thrown by his father. When Richard (Edward Herrmann) sees Emily (Kelly Bishop) talking to man she dated, he rear-ends her car, forcing her to ride home with him. The Gilmores reconcile and decide to renew their wedding vows. Emily warns Christopher (David Sutcliffe) that Lorelai (Lauren Graham)and Luke (Scott Patterson) are getting serious and he had better do something quickly if he hopes to end up with Lorelai.

I'm really glad that Emily and Richard got back together, but honestly, if a guy rearended me, I don't think I would be hopping in the car with him and asking him to come home.  But that's just me....

Which just goes to show Emily doesn't give a hoot about Lorelai's happiness.  If Emily liked Christopher, that would be one thing.  She'd still be wrong, but it would be understandable.  But, her opinion of Christopher is about the same as the people here who hate him!  And, she wants her daughter with someone she has no respect for?  I've said, I'm not invested in the Lorelai/Luke pairing.  I've also said, chemistry-wise, I think she and Christopher were the best pairing.  But, Emily has never seen Lorelai unhappy with Luke.  The last time (before this episode) that she saw Lorelai and Christopher together, Lorelai was so upset that even Emily's grinchy heart (apologies to the Grinch) was moved enough for her to actually defend her daughter and ask Christopher to leave.  And, yet, she would rather Lorelai be with him?  For what?  For his name!  The Haydens are society.  Whoever heard of the Danes?  She would rather trade in Lorelai's happiness for social standing.

It was very sweet.  I think it's funny that Richard hit her car. I mean since she didn't get hurt.

Hey, here's a thought.  Did Sherry and Christopher ever marry?  If so is he not a divorcee too?  Stupid Emily.  Even if Chris isn't divorced, he has a toddler to take care of.  I'm sure that's exactly what Lorelai needs.  She really is a selfish mother.

Emily made me really mad in this eposide!! The only reason she wants Lorelia and Chris together is because it would look better on HER if Lorelia and Chris got married!! I usually like Emily, because usually she is just trying to do what's right for her daughter and granddaughter. But this is just selfish!! Anyway the whole thing with Richered bumping into Emily's car was pretty funny. I also think it's funny that Rory is going to be Richered's best man!! I also felt bad for Rory though, becuase she really thought that Logan was going to invite her to that book party, but then he didn't!!

IT was really weird that he mentioned it like that and didn't invite her.  I could see why she would have expected him to the way he insinuated.

This is definately one of my favorite episodes. I am a major Richard and Emily fan, I was so happy that they got back together. I loved it when he rear ended her car, and he was so jealous and protective of her when it came to Simon, that was so cute.  When she asked him to come home I was so happy.

When Lorelia and Rory where trying to figure out what was going on with Emily and Richard and they saw them kissing-I was like WHOAH, YOU GO RICHARD AND EMILY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad Richard and Emily are back together!! I really hated it when Emily went to Christopher though, ahh she really needs to mind her own business!

Emily and Richard's break up is, in my opinion, one of the worst parts in the show. I don't even know why but it just made me so sad. Anyway, I'm glad they made up. The Korean new year was hilarious too with the kid screaming at Zach. That kid is so awesome. He's in the movie Kicking and Screaming too. lol. Anyway, good episode. 7.5/10

Everytime I watch this episode, I am so thrown off by the scene where Emily goes to Christopher's.  There is no warning out there that Emily means to do harm to Lorelai's relationship.  Her character kind of undergoes a change from hard to soft with the whole make-up with Richard and asking Lorelai to be her maid of honor.  The end of the episode just always comes as such a surprise to me.

my favorite scene is at Lunar New Year Dinner. and it goes something like this:



ZACH: I’ll be right back. I have to go to the bathroom.

KID: You’re not allowed to leave the table.

ZACH: Nature’s calling, kid.



KID: Nature must wait!!!!

i am also confused by the whole emily going over to chris's apartment. i guess when she snuck a peak of lorelai holding up a wedding dress to see how it would look on her, that threw a red flag. she knew she had to do something  about it and quickly.

I never thought of that. I knew Emily was in the room while Lorelai was holding up the wedding dress on herself. I just didn't know if Emily actually saw her do that. That was cute how Lorelai was kinda seeing how it would look. Thanks for the explanation the girls4ever!!!!
