i think this is such a great episode!!
i feel bad for Luke because he loves Lorelai soo much and he wanted he for so long and waited forever for her.
i feel for CHris too, he always wanted to marry Lor and he realized her and Luke were seriously in love.
Emily is such a bad person!!!

she causes the majority of the problems on the show and always causes trouble

Hahaha how funny was it that Rory and Logan got caught 3 times, by Lor, Chris and Luke

I always thought this pic of luke from that episode was sad:

it was like this again:
"He said you were together. I mean, I was sitting there listening to this guy spout on and on about how it's right, you're right, he's right. The whole time, I'm thinking, "What the hell have I been doing all this for? She's taken."

of course she had no intention of going with chris but he had just said he and emily knew they belonged together

PS - Jess, come baaaaaackkk!  Cry

Yes I agree  Smiley
But on the Wedding Bell Blues episode, I just got through it on my Season 5 DVDs.  I love the clarity you get when watching an entire season without commercials and back to back episodes.
I still get chills when Lorelai says those wonderful words, "You and me.  We're done."  So great.  But I just cry when Lor and Luke are split up and in the eps that follow until they get together again.

I also love the song Richard and Emily danced to.  ~Wedding Bell Blues~ On an episode of Designing Women they had that song because Charlene was marrying Bill and I've loved it since I saw that.  And then another favorite of mine came on.  Moon River always makes me think of that amazing movie Breakfast at Tiffany's.  I just loved the actual wedding and stuff but the terrible fighting and the way that Rich and Em treated Luke made me so mad and then sad.

Did Rory and Logan sleep together at the wedding or were they interrupted before they could? I am not sure if they were dressing or getting undressed.

Another one of those special Gilmore Girls episodes where they manage to put so much into one hour. Very moving and powerful.

While I don't agree with how Emily tried to break up Luke and Lorelai's relationship, I do agree that Luke is not the guy for her.  During the course of the show we have seen Lorelai grow into a intelligent, resouceful and successful business woman, while Luke has pretty mush stagnated, if not regressed further into the typical "small town country bumpkin".  Dean (surprise, surprise, he said something honest and intelligent) said it in another episode, that Lorelai is growing too big Stars Hollow and will eventually become bored with the SH life, while Luke will live and die in SH.
I'm not sure if we have seen the perfect guy for Lorelai yet, but Luke is definately not it.

Are you saying that small town is synonymous with "bumpkin" or "hick"?  And, that no smart businesswoman could ever really be happy or choose to live in one?  Some might feel that way.  Just like I'm sure some people of average intelligence and minimal ambition are very happy in big cities, and some are happy in small towns.

I still think the show has given ample evidence that Lorelai had always intended to stay in Stars Hollow.  Not generic "smart successful businesswoman" but, Lorelai Victoria Gilmore.  And, not a temporary thing until Rory was out of the house and she could move on to different (I won't say better) things.  There's been evidence from the start of the show, and continued (to show that she hadn't changed her mind) in later episodes to show that she had planned a future in Stars Hollow.

And, I really don't put much stock in the words of someone consumed by jealousy.  Poor emotionally castrated Dean.  Neither do I give any credit to someone who would rather their daughter be with someone they have no respect for.  As long as he knows which fork is the crab fork and can trace his family lineage back to Europe, the other pesky details don't matter.  (That's Emily's assessment of why Christopher is better husband material than Luke).  And, her daughter's choice, which is where the buck should stop?  Especially considering Lorelai is a grown woman, and last I saw, hadn't gotten a lobotomy?  Not even worth the blink of an eye as far as Emily was concerned.

I also don't get the concept of any human being holding another human being back.  Unless they're deliberately sabotaging you, you make your own success.

And, no, I still wouldn't care if Lorelai had never gotten together with Luke.  I just don't believe in a person's worth as a mate being based on, for want of a more specific word, his social class.

Emily is such a meddling pooh!  But then wouldn't you invite your grandaughter's father to your wedding renewal when you've only one grandaughter?

oooooooooooooooooooooh not getting into the argu about small town / country bumpkins...I love that GG is set in Stars Hollow though. The small town is close together with its community stuff -town selectman meetings and fairs !

I was disappointed in Emily in this epsoide for medaling in Lorelai and Christopher relationship.  I do think though that she was really only doing what she thought was best.  I think Lorelai and Luke looked great dancing together.  Lauren and Scott have great on-screen chemistry. Wink Wink

I soooo reckon they were made for each other! Luke has always been around since the start of GG in episode 1 of season 1! He's been there for the gilmore girls ever since they arrived in S H. Supplying coffee just one of his primary qualities...

I don't think Luke is right for Lorelai either, in spite of the fact that getting them together has clearly been the plan all the way through the series, and I doubt that we'll see her ending up with anyone else.

It's not Luke's small town status or anything like that which makes me feel this way though - Lorelai clearly belongs in Stars Hollow where she's made her own family from the age of 16.  Luke is just too grumpy, narrow minded (I'll never forget his reaction to the woman breastfeeding in his diner) and uninterested in the things that give Lorelai her wit and charm - movies, people skill, word plays etc.  I guess you could say that opposites meet, and it does make the relationship a good breeding ground for dramatic twists, but I just can't see that he has enough to offer her.  He's always in a bad mood, for crying out loud.

He is a grumpy pooh alot, but he's changed sooo much with Lorelai!  I think she's good for him, because she makes him happy and gets him more involved in town functions like the town meeting..

Luke on the other hand tries to drill stuff like security into her (the keys and locking the door) and helps her out with lots of other stuff..
He brings a different view into lots of things and its great to watch Luke & Lorelai together.

You said it better than I, although I don't agree Lorelai will stay in Stars Hollow.  If she doesn't settle for second class (Luke), she will outgrow and move from Stars Hollow.
