Rob,

I agree with you mostly. My only concern is that if we had more than one website we might not be able to coordinate certain projects as well. If 100 people take part in one project, this one project is going to have a greater impact than two seperate projects with 50 participants each. But as long as the hosts of the websites communicate and put up the same basic information and projects (e.g. the Daisy Campaign would HAVE to be mentioned on all of them) it would be fine.

Well, yeah, that coordination is definitely necessary, which is why I mentioned that I would like/would expect that they'd be able to post my ODD campaign to their website.  I definitely think that wherever the ideas come from, we should make sure that they're communicated through every website that participates no matter which site the idea originated from.

You just put it into better words than I did!

Thanks,
Rob

ETA prettystick for your concern and thoughtfulness!

It's really strange that this petition doesn't work & even more that nobody is responding to your inquiries  Huh

Now I was just on my way home, but I found many sites on google http://www.google.at/search?hl=de&q=create+petition&meta=  ... don't know which one is good though cause I never created a petition before, but maybe someone knows a website from the list.

I'm going to reprint the Final Draft of the Petition that I have here in the hopes that someone can post it to a real petition site that will process and activate it promptly (ie: within a day):

-----------------------

PETITION FINAL DRAFT

Title:  “The Gilmore Girls Season 8” (. . . Petition”  PetitionOnline adds the word “Petition” to the end of the title automatically, so I’ll assume that other petition sites doe the same, but if they don’t check for it and add “Petition” to the end of the title.

Petition Targets:

Dawn Ostroff, President of Entertainment, The CW Network
Lauren Graham, producer/star of Gilmore Girls
Alexis Bledel, star of Gilmore Girls

Petition Text:

We, the undersigned, are the viewers and fans of Gilmore Girls who, while we greatly enjoyed the seventh season finale, feel that it is not sufficient as a series finale.  We were taken off-guard by the suddenness of the cancellation announcement and furthermore, many of us have read interviews various actors have given to the media about how upset they were about the abruptness of the season finale (no matter how much we may like it as a story) and agree with their sentiments that the seventh season finale should not be the series finale.  However, we also recognize and respect the objectives, the sentiments and the exhaustion issues of the parties involved and how those factors influenced how the negotiations for an eighth season of Gilmore Girls collapsed.  We do not pass judgment on any of the parties toward which this petition is directed.

We request that The CW network and the necessary actors, Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, reconsider whatever differences they have and build a compromise that would return Gilmore Girls to the network’s schedule during the 2007-2008 television season.  We urge that the show return in a way that addresses both the actors' concerns and the needs of the network, whether as a full season of 22 episodes returning in the fall or as a half-season of 13 episodes returning in the spring or as any other compromise that results in the continuation of the series to a more natural, less forced conclusion.  Gilmore Girls is The CW’s #2 rated scripted series overall for the 2006-2007 season, the #2 rated series for its timeslot in its target demographics of young women, and a classic family series with tremendous continuing appeal to viewers of all generations. We believe such ongoing success calls for the show's return. We believe that the show should come back.

Please bring back the Gilmore Girls for, at the very least, one more season.

  -- Rob

Being For the Benefit of Ms. Gilmore, it's time for another installment of . . .

Operation:  Daisy Duke!

Version 2.14 -- "Gilmore Gardens -- of Daisies."

MISSION STATEMENT:  Our overall goal with ODD is to send real daisies to everyone who could possibly be needed to get everyone back to the negotiating table in order to urge them to work one last time to revoke the cancellation of Gilmore Girls.

TODAY’S GOALS for “Operation: Daisy Duke” are:

A) To ask viewers everywhere to send daisies on their own to Alexis Bledel, Lauren Graham and Dawn Ostroff at their management office addresses.

B) To max out The CW's viewer comment line by no later than 8pm ET / 5pm PT M-F.  Call 1-818-977-6878 as early as you can in the day, to lodge your complaint about the changes to The CW's fall schedule, about the cancellation of Gilmore Girls and the opportunity that shouldn't be missed to revive Gilmore Girls now that American Idol has broken itself by voting the real winner off in third place.  Although the goal is to max out the comment line, please do NOT call the line yourself more than once per day. [/u](Note:  I said once *per day,* not "once, period."  Wink ) Please get more and more people to call the comment line yourself.  The more people calling the better, the more repeat callers, the worse.  Feel free to mention where you're from, what CW station you watch, your age, how you feel about whatever happens to Veronica Mars and also about the terrible replacement for Gg in the 8pm Tuesday timeslot (HINT:  It's Beauty and the Geek, which is nothing more than the network conceding the timeslot to Fox.), etc.

C) To gently remind The CW and Lauren and Alexis that we think that virtually all of the show's complex storylines require one more season to be resolved.

D) To cheerfully and without malice and/or ill-will ignore Alexis'srecent interviews with TV Guide, Entertainment Weekly and People and not get dispirited by themt.  Minds can change -- minds that are 100% made up can be changed to be 100% in the opposite direction.

Without further adieu, I present to you “Operation: Daisy Duke.”

1)  Why "Operation:  Daisy Duke"?  Because it just wouldn't be a Save Gilmore Girls campaign without a bizarro pop culture reference coming from left field.  The show has made some very amusing equations between Lorelai and the hottest Dukes cousin, including having Lorelai drive a jeep (just like Daisy did), having Lorelai wear Daisy Dukes to her meeting with Headmaster Charleston on Rory's first day at Chilton, because Stars Hollow is the set where Hazzard County used to exist and because the exterior of Lorelai's house is the exterior of Uncle Jesse's house.  And because the many ironies inherent in the show's premise strongly suggest that we'll have better luck than Max did with his daisies.

2) Besides the obvious reference to the episode "Love, Daisies and Troubadours," why daisies?  Because nationwide flower delivery is faster than snail mail at this point (ie: next-day delivery) and it's our "tobasco sauce" campaign without a chance of frightening the network in these post 9-11 days.

3) Yes, the series season finale has aired and exit interviews with certain actors have been posted at reliable websites, but it's time to triple our resolve, not to give in! It's time to set up some infrastructure and dive into some serious save-the-show projects.  Lauren's exit interview with Michael Ausiello at TV Guide does NOT mean that all is lost -- she was taken aback by the abrupt cancellation of the series (no matter how much she tries to spin it) and moreover, nobody looks forward to auditions (as she mentioned to Ausiello that she's having to start doing), so Lauren even noting it is a cry for help.  Furthermore, Scott Patterson said in no uncertain terms in his exist interview with Ausiello that he is not happy with the way that the show ended.  MOREOVER, Kelly Bishop and Liza Weil both voiced their unhappiness with the abruptness of the show ending in a Washiington Post article posted on Tuesday, May 15th at
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/05/14/AR2007051401693.html (free and fast registration may be required.)  Encouragingly, Farscape got its four-hour miniseries LONG after the show was cancelled.  Firefly's "Serenity" epilogue was greenlit LONG after that show was cancelled -- and that became a theatrical movie.  Also, Amy Sherman-Palladino voiced interest in a 2-hour Gilmore Girls movie to Michael Ausiello at the recent Upfronts for Fox (where her new series is).  Not saying that Gg would go to the big screen, but the perseverance -- the hard work -- of these show's fandoms BEYOND their shows' so-called endings resulted in proper endings for those shows.  The sooner we voice our opinions, the sooner any sort of revival of the show gets made.

4)  Please send your daisies through your local florist.  There are many sources from your local florist to the internet through which you can send daisies to Ms. Ostroff.  Three of the biggest online alternatives include Teleflora, FTD.com and, 1-800-flowers.com, all of which operate national delivery services through local florists anyway.  Many of the online florists only promote $40 vase arrangements of daisies, which may be beyond a Gg fan's budget, but you can probably ask them to send a much cheaper bouquet of a dozen daisies if you ask them (Can't blame them for promoting the more expensive stuff).  A dozen daisies would likely come in a typical cellophane wrap if they're bought by the stem.  Order the daisies in the way that is best for you.

5) Send yellow daisies ONLY because that's the color of Lorelai.

6) Send your daisies to any or all of the following address:

Alexis Bledel
c/o Flutie Entertainment
6500 Wilshire Blvd
Suite 2240
Los Angeles, CA 90048
Email:  Michael Flutie: [email protected]
Email:  Paul M. Brown:  [email protected]

Lauren Graham
c/o John Carrabino Management
100 North Crescent Dr.
G-400
Beverly Hills, CA 90210

Ms. Dawn Ostroff, President of Entertainment
The CW Television Network
4000 Warner Blvd., Bldg 168
Burbank, CA 91522-0002

And, after these three above, the additional targets of:

Amy Sherman-Palladino
c/o Creative Artists Agency
2000 Avenue of the Stars
Los Angeles, CA 90067

Peter Roth
President, Warner Brothers Television
300 Television Plaza
Burbank, CA 91505
PH:  1-818-954-6000

You can, of course, send small message cards with your bouquet.  The rule is this:  BE POLITE AND POSITIVE.  Do NOT write anything like "I hate you because you cancelled Gilmore Girls!" or "I'm sad that you cancelled Gimore Girls" or "I won't watch The CW ever again unless you uncancel Gilmore Girls."  I totally understand, respect and even share those feelings, but, after all, it's not something that Lorelai or Rory would do in this situation.  Instead, write something like "Please renew Gilmore Girls!" or "Please uncancel Gilmore Girls" and sign it with at least your name and address so that they know how far Gg's fanbase has spread throughout the country and the world.

7) DEADLINE: EVERYDAY is the official deadline. Any day that Daisies or letters or voicemails or email arrive ESPECIALLY because the Fall Schedule was announced at the Upfronts WILL still help!  They need the input about what you think about the fall schedule (and don't say, "It sucks because Gilmore Girls is not on it.")

Cool  There is no 8 yet.  That’s the whole point.

9) Please post to this thread when you've sent a bouquet.  Even one hundred bouquets of just a dozen daisies sent to Alexis, Lauren and/or Ms. Ostroff will surpass the 1000 mark of daisies mentioned by Lorelai and increased by a factor of, oh, ten by Max at the end of LD&T and I am sure that we'll send a lot more than that.

10)  Please spread the word of "Operation:  Daisy Duke" around to other MBs and forums that have enthusiastic Gilmore supporters.  Some of the obvious boards are FanForum, the cwtv.com lounge, etc.  We don't want to annoy people, especially since there are people who post to multiple MBs.  But still, let us know which MBs it gets posted to and provide a link to this thread or to the Great 8 Mandate thread.  If you so desire, please copy this entire post to that forum.

11)  If you can't afford to send real daisies, then we have an alternative with the aid of Snail Mail:  Find a picture of a daisy, print and cut out lots of copies of them, send a dozen or two of them with your snail mail letter to the various contact addresses (Remember to BE POLITE).  And when I mean cut out a lot of copies of them, cut out individual squares or rectangles of the pictures, whatever shape the picture is -- cutting out the outline of the daisy over and over again would, of course, be Paris-level insane.  Enclose them in the letter when you fold it so that when the person has to open the letter, the paper daisies *have* to fall out.  One creative thing to put in the mix -- maybe sub out one of the daisies and insert a Great8 Mandate logo instead.

Let's spread the word!  "Operation:  Daisy Duke" continues!

Rob I completely agree with everything you said along with all of your suggestions. I really like the idea of both FF and ORGers fighting under one roof and working together. It can only help up our chances of getting another season, it especially helps the Fanforum users cause GG.org has gottan attention because of it's efforts to save the show plus it helps the GG.org users because Lauren Graham knows what Fanforum is.

btw Rob, excellent Petition message. Smiley

Well if we had 2 websites, both website runners would be getting the same information and same campaign ideas cause anything big posted here, I pass on to FF and everyone hears about it, it would just be on 2 different websites, one made by GG.org and one made by FF.com so IMHO, 2 websites could be better. It wouldn't make it look like just one of these 2 websites (gg.org/ff.com) is in charge just because they are the website runner, it would be a group effort on 2 different sites. It would also give users options and they can choose where they feel more comfortable. For example: Some FF users may feel more comfortable on a website ran by people from FF cause they know the runner for the most part, Fanforum is a community, like a small town and it would make sence for them to feel more comfortable on a website ran by someone from their area. Same goes for GG.org users. We might be able to reach more people if we do things with 2 websites. So 2 websites may just be better. If Heidi is making a website only dedicated to getting a movie though, then that is fine aswell! The FF people already agreed that a website concerning saving S8 in general was a good idea and is planning on making it. A website for each subject could work really well too.

By "both subjects" she means movie and season 8. I think this is awesome =)

@go_clo: I am not registered over there so I can't ask. Do you know if they're talking to Heidi or to someone else from our Great8Mandate thread? Because if they're not talking to Heidi then we'll have two websites in the end. I think it's important only to have one website. ONE adress that can be spread all over the internet.

I'm not sure if anyone over there is in contact with Heidi, I don't think so. I know that very few users even come here due to confusion and intimidation of the fast moving thread so I highly doubt any of them are in contact with Heidi. Don't quote me on that though cause I don't really know. Smiley I think I am pretty much the only Great8Mandate regular that they are in contact with over there, I basically just bring them over all the important news and new projects so that they don't have to sift through hundreds of pages of stuff just to find the newer projects. I did tell them that Heidi is making a website but I gave them a 'Go-ahead' to continue with their website anyways cause of the reasons I listed above plus I wasn't sure if Heidi was creating a "Save GG S8" website in general or just a "Save The Movie" website. I know that fanforum users originally wanted to just make a "Save The Movie" kinda website but I suggested they make a "Save GG S8" website and they really like the idea so It hink we are going with that. I say it's better to have 2 websites dedicated to getting another season then to have 2 websites dedicated to getting a movie so if in fact Heidi is making a website dedicated to getting another season, thats fine that FF users are doing the same.

@ HEIDI (and PINKPAISLEY over at FanForum)

That's simply the best news I've heard in weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just started feeling more and more that a global campaign was out of the question for GG, that things we're stalling because of a serious lack of communication and cooperation between GG.org (the G8M) and the rest of GG internet fandom. I myself tried to convince Arieanna at Gilmoregirlsnews.com to talk about us continuing to fight for a season 8, and to put a clear reminder of the daisy-campaign at the top of her homepage, to no avail. So you saying you're working TOGETHER to make an ALL-INCLUSIVE  save GG site is AWESOME. I just feel (like Stracciatella and Go_clo) that making different websites isn't an ideal scenario at all, because it would almost certainly cause coordination problems (who knows even rivalry, as in 'who's will be the main website') and water down our efforts. We need nothing short of a big bang to wake Alexis, Lauren, the network  AND THE PRESS up, and our greatest weakness is our lack of visibility. I'm sure that even on GG.org, there are many regular visitors who don't even know the G8M still continues because they have only been posting or lurking on the other threads. So A BIG FAT THANKS AND KUDOS TO YOU HEIDI for working on this web-site with the guys at FanForum, and I hope you've made contact with other GG webmasters as well. Strength is in numbers, strength is in unison, strength is in focus! We're nearly there!!!!

BTW, CNN is running the Jericho story. (hope it hasn't been posted already)
http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/TV/06/06/jericho.cancellation.ap/index.html
'Jericho' fans assail CBS with 25 tons of peanuts
June 6, 2007
LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Fans trumpeting the cause of CBS' canceled drama "Jericho" have caught the network's ear.

CBS, deluged with calls, messages and shipments of nuts signifying viewer displeasure, is reconsidering its decision, a source close to the production said Tuesday.

The source spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to comment publicly. A decision on whether to bring the show back, probably for a midseason run, is imminent, the source said.

"We are tired of the networks (not just CBS) tossing aside quality programming," was the message carried by jericholives.com, one of several Web sites protesting the cancellation. "Enough! We're going to fight for this one."

Clarke Ingram, a "Jericho" fan from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and a spokesman for jericholives, said he was optimistic that CBS would find a way to revive the drama about a Kansas town isolated by a nuclear terrorist attack.

"People would paint this as teenagers in tinfoil hats" rallying behind the show, said Ingram, 50, an operations manager for two radio stations. "That's not what this is. These are educated professionals."

The show's daring premise, its writing and acting make the case for its survival, he said.

Several factors could work in the show's favor: It appeals to the young adult viewers sought by advertisers and was one of CBS' most popular shows streamed online, indicating an audience beyond that measured by traditional ratings.

CBS may also be considering the dent a long hiatus put in the show's viewership, the same scheduling misstep that hurt ABC's "Lost" and NBC's "Heroes."

The network apparently has been impressed by the display of viewer passion, which included the delivery of 50,000 pounds of peanuts to its New York offices. In the season finale, a character replies "Nuts!" to a demand that the beleaguered town of Jericho surrender.

That's the same response that a U.S. general in World War II made to a German demand for surrender at the Battle of the Bulge.

There's already been one positive outcome: CBS is donating the protest peanuts to charities, including one that sends care packages to troops overseas.

Combining two adjacent posts again because I type fast:

Why don't we murder someone to get new episodes?Huh?!!! Just kiding....DO YOU REALLY THINK WE CAN MAKE IT?Huh After almost a month...

This is a great question and all I gotta say is that IMO Jericho had somewhere around a month or more lead-time on us versus when the CW announced Gg's cancellation because they knew that the show was in trouble ratings-wise and I think had a much clearer motivation for starting earlier, so their results are IMO showing earlier, but on the same type of schedule relative to when they started.  Meanwhile, negotiations for s8 of Gg were a real rollercoaster ride up to the abrupt cancellatoin notice on May 2nd and I think that given how little time has passed since the cancellation notice and then the Upfronts and The CW's announcement of their disastrous fall schedule, we're more or less on-schedule in getting our campaign going versus the progress Jericho made.
