Ok, so we have sent a photo book, a cd, hundreds of flowers, thousands of letters and e-mail, and cards, but did we ever follow thru with the tee-shirt idea? Something with the mandate logo and daisies would be nice. So show our support. An on the back we could list the 8 reasons why we want a season 8. (It did go up to 8, right? Or are we still at seven?)  Tell me what you think.

May I just add a bit of my anger to this thread!† After seeing last nights episode I was so angry knowing that it was one of the final two episodes.† From what I can tell these were written BEFORE they knew if the season were being cancelled, because I don't believe they would end things so poorly.† Last year 7th Heaven ended so abruptly that they were able to FINALLY get a deal for x number of episodes.† Now in my opinion the quality of 7th Heaven has greatly deteriorated since it's glory days, but maybe we have a chance.† I was so upset after last night and watching the promo, I almost screamed out loud.† A quality show like Gilmore Girls DOES NOT deserve to end with so many loose ends. Shows like Sex and the City, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Friends as well as many other very POPULAR well written shows had less seasons than our beloved show BUT AT LEAST THEY HAD DECENT ENDING EPISODES.† No matter if you liked who ended up with who in the end, they were done with class. WE DESERVE SOME CLASS, DON'T YOU THINK?

YES!!!!!!

Welcome!† Itís Day Seven (I took yesterday off because this message is so long) of . . .

Operation:† Daisy Duke.

In which we send real daisies to Dawn Ostroff, President of the CW (address later in this post) in order to urge her to work one last time with Lauren and Alexis to revoke the cancellation of Gilmore Girls.

TODAYíS GOALS for ďOperation: Daisy DukeĒ are 1) to STRONLY encourage those viewers who want to send daisies to Dawn Ostroff on their own to order and send a bouquet of daisies to her TODAY OR TOMORROW as you go to your local florist to buy flowers for your mom, sister, aunt or other female relative who's a mom, , 2) to buy the DVD of the Mandy Moore-starring movie "Because I Said So," which hits the stands today, because it co-stars Lauren Graham and 3) to stock up on the rest of your Gilmore Girls DVD sets if you haven't already done so as they're on sale at your local Target for $22.99 apiece for the rest of the week.

Any day that Daisies arrive between now and the Upfronts on the 17th (and even beyond) WILL still help!

REMEMBER: It's time to double our resolve, not to give in! † Lauren's exit interview with Michael Ausiello at TV Guide does NOT mean that all is lost.† Farscape got its four-hour miniseries LONG after the show was cancelleld.† Firefly's "Serenity" epilogue was greenlit LONG after that show was cancelled -- and that became a theatrical movie.† Not saying that Gg would go to the big screen, but the perseverance of these show's fandoms BEYOND their shows' so-called endings resulted in proper endings for those shows.

Without further adieu, I present to you ďOperation: Daisy Duke.Ē

1)† Why "Operation:† Daisy Duke"?† Because it just wouldn't be a Save Gilmore Girls campaign without a funny pop culture reference coming from left field.† The show has made some very amusing equations between Lorelai and the hottest Dukes cousin, including having Lorelai drive a jeep (just like Daisy did), having Lorelai wear Daisy Dukes to her meeting with Headmaster Charleston on Rory's first day at Chilton, because Stars Hollow is the set where Hazzard County used to exist and because the exterior of Lorelai's house is the exterior of Uncle Jesse's house.† And because the many ironies inherent in the show's premise strongly suggest that we'll have better luck than Max did with his daisies.

2)† There are many sources from your local florisst to the internet through which you can send daisies to Ms. Ostroff.† Two of the biggest online alternatives include FTD.com and, 1-800flowers.com, both of whom operate national delivery services through local florists anyway.† Many of the online florists only promote $40 vase arrangements of daisies, which may be beyond a Gg fan's budget.† A dozen daisies would likely come in a typical cellophane wrap if they're bought by the stem.† Order the daisies in the way that is best for you.†

3) Send yellow daisies ONLY because that's the color of Lorelai.† If whoever you order from is out of yellow daisies (unlikely, but still . . .) then, sure, go with white daisies, but Yellow is the color.

4) Send your daisies to Dawn Ostroff at the following address:†

Ms. Dawn Ostroff, President of Entertainment
The CW Television Network
4000 Warner Blvd., Bldg 168
Burbank, CA 91522-0002

5)† You can, of course, send small message cards with your bouquet.† The rule is this:† BE POLITE AND POSITIVE.† Do NOT write anything like "I hate you because you cancelled Gilmore Girls!" or "I'm sad that you cancelled Gimore Girls" or "I won't watch The CW ever again unless you uncancel Gilmore Girls."† I totally understand, respect and even share those feelings, but, after all, it's not something that Lorelai or Rory would do in this situation.† Instead, write something like "Please renew Gilmore Girls!" or "Please uncancel Gilmore Girls" and sign it with at least your name and address so that they know how far Gg's fanbase has spread throughout the country and the world.

6) DEADLINE: EVERYDAY is the official deadline.

7) I'll do another big push on Sunday the 13th (yes, I know, I know, Motherís Day) to encourage sending flowers on Gilmore Tuesdays, but the more constant the stream of daisies delivered to Ms. Ostroff on a daily basis between now and May 16th, the day before the CW's Upfront (Fall Schedule Announcement) is revealed, the better.† Again, the last day for same day deliveries is May 16th, but other than that, every day is deadline day for the campaign.

Cool† There is no 8 yet.† Thatís the whole point.

9) Please post to this thread when you've sent a bouquet.† Even one hundred bouquets of just a dozen daisies sent to Ms. Ostroff will surpass the 1000 mark of daisies from LD&T and I am sure that we'll send a lot more than that.

10)† Please spread the word of "Operation:† Daisy Duke" around to other MBs and forums that have enthusiastic Gilmore supporters.† Some of the obvious boards are FanForum, the cwtv.com lounge, TwoP, E!, etc.† If you recruit at any other forum, please post here with which one you posted at so that we get an idea of how it's spreading and so that we don't duplicate the news too often (no more than once per day).† We don't want to annoy people, especially since there are people who post to multiple MBs.† But still, let us know which MBs it gets posted to and provide a link to this here Great 8 Mandate thread or even copy this entire post to that forum.

Okay?† Okay!

Let's spread the word!† "Operation:† Daisy Duke" continues!

† -- Rob

do we have any pics of the daisies or anything that we sent? exactly who did we send them to anyways, DO, LG, AB or all of em?

I placed the order yesterday.  You can read my last post about the Daisy Campaign here.  It's fairly comprehensive and should answer any questions you have.  (And yes, boquets were sent to Lauren, Alexis, and Dawn.)

I spoke with the florist again today and they definitely took photos.  As soon as they're e-mailed to me, hopefully no later than tomorrow, I'll post them.  Wink

~Heidi

Hi guys,

Good news.  Yesterday, our flowers for the Daisy Campaign were delivered successfully and today I received photos from the florist.  Proportion is admittedly hard to decipher in the photos, but please take my word that our arrangements are large and contain a great deal of daisies ... definitely bigger than your average size arrangement.  The basket (which went to Lauren) is actually a little bigger than the two vases.  It's the type of basket you'd put in the middle of a dinner table and would then proceed to obstruct everyone's view.  Wink

I hope everyone is happy with the end result.  If I get any feedback from Lauren, Alexis, or Dawn it'll be posted here right away.  Here's hoping.   Clover

Holy cow thatís a lot of daisies!† Kudos Heidi on the cards, the notes and the scouting of shops!† They really did a great job with this, I had no idea what to expect as far as volume and this definitely exceeded my own expectations!† † † †

Iíve been absent from this thread for a few days and Iím having trouble catching/keeping up, itís grown by over 20 pages since I last read, which tells me you all have amazing spirit!† I saw the quote of your recent post Rob regarding the advertisers.† Is this the most recent and finalized list?† Do we have contact info for all of them or do we still need to research?† I will have a couple free hours tonight and I really want to get on this and send some letters ASAP, I just got tied up with life stuff.† Can anyone that has answers to these questions let me know?† Thanks in advance and keep up the good fight!! Laura, I don't know about finalized list, but the list I just wrote overnight was a comparison of the advertisers on Gg versus the advertisers on VM, a just about complete list compiled by Bill & Divine can be found in a short Word document at the following link:

http://root.pcmasters.at/upload/files/2659036-List_of_Advertisers.doc

Because there's so short an amount of time before the Upfronts, my suggestion this time is to call the phone numbers provided in the list and don't hang up until you hear a real speaking voice.

I'll reprint my analysis of advertisers to especially target right now:

@ ADVERTISERS

I didn't have enough time on Tuesday night to watch my DVRing of Veronica Mars off WPIX in NYC, so I compared Bill & Divine's list with my list of Veronica Mars sponsors to find any overlap.  Any advertisers doing both shows would be among the network's biggest buyers, not just in terms of the size of the corporation (such as Pepsi), but also in terms of the sheer number of slots that they're buying.  They certainly would have more pull with the network regarding what shows they want to advertise in or they may take so huge a number of blocks of time across all the shows that they might not care.  It's my experience with KFC and the Save Farscape campaign that the big advertisers likely DO care.  So here's my preliminary list of companies who advertised on both Gilmore Girls AND Veronica Mars:

Subway
Extra Winterfresh Gum (company?)
Pepsi (for Diet Pepsi)
Maybelline
Target
Revlon (particularly its Colorist line, featuring Sheryl Crow in the commercial)
Propel (Energy drink thingie)
Geico (Insurance)
Dentyne Ice (same company as Extra?)

That is not to say that we shouldn't be contacting other companies on the list, it's just that these are ones that we should pay special attention to because they buy blocks of time in both Tuesday shows on the CW.

It's likely that other large companies on the list also buy big blocks on the network, just on different days/timeslots.  Like the following companies that advertised during Gg

Kraft/Nabisco (Oreos and Wheat Thins)
Cascade
Schick (Intuition razor)
Spray 'n' Wash
Citi (The bank formerly known as Citibank).
Toyota
Nissan

None of these should be passed over, either -- those of you that are older and of car-buying age and financial ability should contact Toyota, Nissan and Citi as they're probably not going to be motivated by correspondence from kids.  Those of you who are younger, see if you can get your parents to contact those companies, especially if they *own* a Toyota or a Nissan or have a credit card through Citi.

Also, as far as Veronica advertisers who *didn't* advertise on Gg, I'd go after both AT&T/Cingular and Verizon -- as they are, hello, both cell phone companies and they might just want to go with a show with a larger audience, one where parents watch alongside the kids and the kids would be the ones to pressure the parents into buying cellphones.

  -- Rob

--------------------------
Season 8:  Because they're going to need replacements for whatever new series they cancel after three episodes and there are only so many lame reality shows you can plug in before the viewers realize that reality shows 1) suck and 2) are used far too often to mask a lame scheduling mistake like cancelling Gilmore Girls.

the daisies look great!

especially the basket!!

curious though: approximately how many daisies were sent?

it looks like a pretty good amount, i'm just hoping that 1000 daisies could get sent all together (through the forum, or through personal sendings) it would be so cute!

so i was just wondering =/ lol

Yes, thanks Rob- and whoever put together that list of addresses- that is handy. I will PM them to myself- that is a handy idea too!

I really think this advertisers idea is our last hope, but its a good one- money talks, especially if the money threatens to walk....

Well, it depends how you look at it.  Wink

We did indeed break the 1000 mark if you count daisy 'flowers'.  Multiple daisies can grown on one stem ... so if we counted all our daisies, that number would be over 1000; we just didn't send 1000 daisy stems.  Make sense?

If you look at the amount of daisies that Max gave Lorelai, it's got to be well over 1000 stems.

I don't understand why some of you sent things to the CW.

The contract negociations were between WARNER BROTHERS and the actors.

I love Gilmore girls but it's done. stop wasting your money.† Cry

My brother works for studios in Vancouver and all the things fans send is going to the trash.
