Since the cancellation news hit, my inbox has been flooded with two types of e-mails ...
1.  People want to know how they can 'save the Gilmores'.
2.  People want to know how they can get involved with our flower campaign.

Here's a question for everyone to ponder ...

Would anyone be interested in sending me money via PayPal, with the goal of pooling our resources to send one big bouquet of daisies?

With that said, I'm all in.  Even if no one joins me, I'll be sending my own bouquet.    Hearts

~Heidi

Hedi-I would love to help out...At the moment I am a little skint, so I could only give a small donation. Prolly whatever is left in my paypal account...Which is around $4.00...I can't buy anything for $4.00 on ebay anyways, so I would be happy to donate...espeically since it is for our girls! I can PM you the axact amount if you like. Let me know.

Yes, definitely!  I think a huge bouquet is a great idea, and people that can't afford to send a whole bouquet on their own could donate as little or as much as they want.  Count me in!

Yeah, my deepest sympathys. I like this other show, that is filmed in Canada, and they have stuff going on all the time, but you have to be a "Canadian Residant". *sighs*

Anyways. That is awesome that you want to donate too!! Yay

Okay, it's time to start day two of . . .

Operation:  Daisy Duke.

In which we send real daisies to Dawn Ostroff, President of the CW (address later in this post) in order to urge her to work one last time with Lauren and Alexis to revoke the cancellation of Gilmore Girls.

1)  Why "Operation:  Daisy Duke"?  Because it just wouldn't be a Save Gilmore Girls campaign without a funny pop culture reference coming from left field.  The show has made some very amusing equations between Lorelai and the hottest Dukes cousin, including having Lorelai drive a jeep (just like Daisy did), having Lorelai wear Daisy Dukes to her meeting with Headmaster Charleston on Rory's first day at Chilton, because Stars Hollow is the set where Hazzard County used to exist and because the exterior of Lorelai's house is the exterior of Uncle Jesse's house.  And because the many ironies inherent in the show's premise strongly suggest that we'll have better luck than Max did with the daisies.

2)  There are many sources on the web and in your own backyard to send daisies through.  Many of the online florists only promote $40 vase arrangements of daisies, which may be beyond a Gg fan's budget.  One of Heidi's inquiries into a store located in Burbank stated that daisies can be ordered for as little as $1.50 per stem ($18 per dozen).  If you are willing to order your daisies through that store, then I think that the quantity of daisies ordered would be as profitable for that store as ordering a fewer amount of more expensive daisies would be.  So here's the address of the store to try:

Magnolia Flowers & Gifts
(818) 569-0229
- Daisies were available for $1.50 per stem.  According to the florist 1-2 dozen stems would make a nice vase.

A dozen daisies would likely come in a typical cellophane wrap if they're bought by the stem.  And remember, you can also order daisies through FTD, 1-800flowers.com and other websites and even your local florists.  Order the daisies in the way that is best for you.

If you are overseas or can't afford a full bouquet or a simple dozen stems, then please add to Heidi's Paypal Account Idea.  The larger it is, the better it is.  One large bouquet going in reinforces a stream of individual bouquets going in and a stream of individual bouquets reinforces one large bouquet.  Please PM Heidi if you want to go with the PayPal plan way, it'll help give her the idea of what size of an order she'd be making at minimum and the more people she gets a sense that would be willing to donate, the bigger the bouquet will be.  And she'll post further details as soon as she can.

3) Send yellow daisies ONLY because that's the color of Lorelai.  If whoever you order from is out of yellow daisies (unlikely, but still . . .) then, sure, go with white daisies, but Yellow is the color.

4) Send your daisies to Dawn Ostroff at the following address:

Ms. Dawn Ostroff, President of Entertainment
The CW Television Network
4000 Warner Blvd., Bldg 168
Burbank, CA 91522-0002

4)  You can, of course, send small message cards with your bouquet.  The rule is this:  BE POLITE AND POSITIVE.  Do NOT write anything like "I hate you because you cancelled Gilmore Girls!" or "I'm sad that you cancelled Gimore Girls" or "I won't watch The CW ever again unless you uncancel Gilmore Girls."  I totally understand and respect those feelings, but, after all, it's not something that Lorelai or Rory would do in this situation.  Instead, write something like "Please renew Gilmore Girls!" or "Please uncancel Gilmore Girls" and sign it with at least your name and address so that they know how far Gg's fanbase has spread throughout the country and the world.

5) DEADLINE: EVERYDAY is the official deadline.

I'll do big pushes on Sunday the 6th and Sunday the 13th to encourage sending flowers on Gilmore Tuesdays, but the more constant the stream of daisies delivered to Ostroff on a daily basis between now and May 16th, the day before the CW's Upfront (Fall Schedule Announcement) is revealed, the better.  Again, the last day for same day deliveries is May 16th, but other than that, *every* day is deadline day for the campaign.

6) Please post to this thread when you've sent a bouquet.  I'll keep a running total and post updates periodically.  Even one hundred bouquets of just a dozen daisies sent to Ms. Ostroff will surpass the 1000 mark of daisies from LD&T and I am sure that we'll send a lot more than that.

7)  Please spread the word of "Operation:  Daisy Duke" around to other MBs and forums that have enthusiastic Gilmore supporters.  Some of the obvious boards are FanForum, the cwtv.com lounge, TwoP, etc.  If you recruit at any other forum, please post here with which one you posted at so that we get an idea of how it's spreading and so that we don't duplicate the news too often (no more than once per day).  We don't want to annoy people, especially since there are people who post to multiple MBs.  But still, let us know which MBs it gets posted to and provide a link to this here Great 8 Mandate thread or even copy this entire post to that forum.

Okay?  Okay!

Let's spread the word!  "Operation:  Daisy Duke" continues!

Thanks for all the info...I am PMing Heidi right now with exact amount--I think it would be a good idea if everyone tried to tell Heidi the exact amount, so it will not get confusing.

what's the point of ending gg like this?!! this is not an ending, it's incomplete: lorelai not marry, rory insecure about her future and without logan it sucks...I can stand the real end of gg if it was complete like normal seasons like beverly hills or f.r.i.e.n.d.s something announced from the very beginning not when there are 2 episodes left it's not fair...So I SUPPORT GREAT8MANDATE, WE DON'T WANT GG TO LAST FOREVER BECAUSE WE KNOW IT'S IMPOSSIBLE WE ARE JUST ASKING A PROPER FINALE IF IT REALLY NEEDS TO END!!!
My feelings exactly!  They should at least do a proper ending.  Couldn't they film another episode or 2 to really end it?  The show and the fans at least deserve a real ending!

YES. AMEN.

I even think something like that should go on a card to Dawn O...

"We know the show can't last forever...But we need our last season to make everything right"

Or something like that. Ha ha. I am not the best author.

All in for Heidi's Paypal scheme. If all of us send a small amount, we can go a long long way. I myself think flooding them with lots of bouquets of all different sizes would make a bigger impression than just one huge one. Just tell me to proceed with the Paypal scheme. It ain't over till Miss Patty sings!

There Must Be A SEASON 8

Okay so here goes another of my emails:

Dear Ms. Ostroff,
It's been barely 4 years or so that we've heard about Gilmore Girls in my country.
My friends used to watch it all the time, they enjoyed all the jokes, pop-cultural references, fast talking, the crazy people...so one day I thought I'd give it a try.Next thing I remember is that I bought all the DVD sets available in here.

Watching Gilmore Girls has become a routine and I have constant reminders of the show daily. Say like, every morning when I drive to college, I can smell coffee from the coffee maker factories, my particular Luke's dinner spots. My dad has several dogs, similar to Paul Anka, Lorelai's dog. I have a friend who seriously, his weirdness reminds me of Kirk, the chefs from the restaurant below my flat, are as funny as Sookie. They have veggie producers, there goes our particular Jackson. I have several friends that read and study as much as Rory, I'm addicted to music and so is Lane, Lauren Graham is my favourite actress, so Lorelai comes along with that fact.

I guess that there are so many storylines to go on yet, which a short 8 Season would do it greatly, something that two episodes won't.
More than 4.4 million of fans are begging to bring the girls back, you can't just say no to that, please.

Can you help me back to my routine by bringing the girls back for another (short) season please?

Sincerely,

Leire *******

I'm just curious what the very last line will be. Ever since I heard Amy Palladino say she knew what the last line was going to be, I've been curious.

@Heidi
For me this would be a great way to participate in the flower thing, because it's far too expensive to order from here. So if there's a PayPal-action - I'm in. And I completely trust you to send the flowers I've paid for.
(If this doesn't work out, I'll still send them in August, when I'll be in L.A., or even deliver it personally!!!!!!!!!!!!)

@Rob
As you seem to know pretty much about that stuff - would you think that it makes sense to try this also via the European companies who advertise during the GG-show? Or would you think that it'll make sense to contact the two networks that show GG in Austria and Germany? I'm really willing to do this if this makes sense? Just somebody who knows better tell me how!!!!

I'm not stopping to campaign until they show something else on Tuesday night in the US....  Angry Angry Angry

Did you just read my mind while suggesting this? *lol*
I just wanted to come here and ask if it would make sense to contact the two networks who air GG in Austria & Germany and then I saw that u already wrote that Smiley   ... So, does anyone know if it would make sense?  I mean I think the show is a big 'profit' for both networks so it would 'hurt' them too if there wouldn't be a season 8 - right?

Also Heidi, thansk for organizing this paypal-collecting-thing! I already sent a bouquet yesterday - although it wasn't cheap or anything, it didn't cost as much as I thoguht in the first place .. so I would be willing to send you this difference and participate for a second bouquet - man let's flood them with flowers *lol*

And although it has been said about 1000 times - I LOVE how dedicated everyone is .. everyone is willing to help and we might not have a big chance to get GG back, but having soo many participants with the same goal is definitely going to help (and is also VERY encouraging)!

I doubt we will ever find out and that breaks my heart Cry Amy had those last few lines in her head for 7 years and now she will never get to vocalize them! If we got another season, we would get a bit of a chance of that!

Someone told me they heard the last line is going to be same line that either stated or ended the 1 show (pilot).  So I watched it to see what that was.    Beginning of the 1st show when Lorelai walks into Lukes she says "Please, Luke, Please, please, please.  (the whole coffee conversation follows) and the last line is whenRory asks Luke for coffee and  Luke tells Rory to not turn out like her mother and Rory says "too late"  I am interested in seeing if that is true becasue I do feel like both would work
