OMG!  I can't believe I read all 60 pages of the whole thread in an hour!  (Darn, I had to re-register.
Guess there was major server turnover since I last posted two years ago.  I want my post #s back!)

Thanks for PMing me through FF, Heidi.  Now see what you've done!   Grin

Anyhoo, I got a couple of new ideas for the campaign.  What do you think?

1) Newspaper Logo Campaign

Cut the logo from the top of the first page of your local newspaper -- the entire logo strip complete
with date and city location in small type -- and staple that to your letter.  This would represent not
just where you're from, but also symbolize the vast number of newspapers in the world that Rory
could work at after she graduates.  So it's clear who this idea would be directed toward, no?  Wink

2) Banner Campaign

I'm thinking parade-type banners for people to hold outside of Warner Studios somewhere that
has 1) maximum visibility and 2) the necessary legal permits.  Some sort of motto like "Will you be
our Lorelai Gilmore(s) for one more year?," maybe even adding "^at the very least" as a smaller-type
insert between and above "for" and "one".  I'm not really visually artistic, but hopefully you get my
drift.  Or the banner could say, "Love, Daisies and Gilmore Girls" with a ginormous daisy on one end
and the s8 mandate logo on the other end.

Hi Great8ers,

For some people the idea of participating in a fan campaign like the Great8Mandate can be a little intimidating.  That's understandable if you've never done anything like this before.  This post is a quick 'cheat sheet' for anyone who is interested in helping to support Gilmore Girls season eight.

1.  Write a letter of support for Gilmore Girls.  It's that simple.  It can be short or it can be long.  All you need to do is express why the show is important to you and that you have a desire to see it continue on to season eight.

2.  Decide whether you'd like to e-mail your 'snail mail' your letter.  (Send it to one person or send it to many.  Every little bit helps.)

2a. If you'd like to e-mail your letter, use these addresses:

Dawn Ostroff
President of Entertainment, The CW Television Network
[email protected]

The CW Television Network
[email protected]

Alexis Bledel's Managers
Michael Flutie: [email protected]
Paul M. Brown:  [email protected]

2b.  If you'd like to snail mail your letter, use these addresses:

Ms. Dawn Ostroff
President of Entertainment, The CW Television Network
4000 Warner Blvd., Bldg 168
Burbank, CA 91522-0002

Peter Roth
President, Warner Brothers Television
300 Television Plaza
Burbank, CA 91505

Cast Member's Name
c/o Gilmore Girls
The CW Television Network
3701 Oak St.
Building 34R
Burbank, CA 91505

3.  All of the above contacts are important.  If you can't decide who to write to, my personal suggestion would be Dawn Ostroff.

4.  Don't be intimidated!  If you have any questions at all, your fellow GilmoreGirls.org Forum members are here to help.

5.  Keep the faith.  Viva la Gilmore!   Hearts

Hi Rob,

Welcome back to the ORG Forum!  Good to have you.  I love both ideas!  The newspaper logo idea accomplishes quite a few things in one easy swoop ...

1.  It obviously gets the word out that fans support the show
2.  It's clear who the idea is directed at (nudge, nudge, wink, wink)
3.  Gilmore fans are present all over the world and it will help to show how global we are

I'll be cutting off the top of my newspaper and sending it in tomorrow. Smiley

I also love your second idea.  It's a little more complicated as we'll need to find some local fans, but it's still doable.  Let's see what we can come up with!

when do we find out??? toay is the 18th, on day after!!

Aryan, we could find out anytime between now and May 17th.

What adress is best to use with Dawn Ostroff?

gilmore-fanatic517, I would try the following ...

Ms. Dawn Ostroff
President of Entertainment, The CW Television Network
4000 Warner Blvd., Bldg 168
Burbank, CA 91522-0002

Heidi- I was wondering if Julie's video was on youtube? If so, I could add it to the myspace page. I think that such an emotional video would really help to draw other people's hearts in and theyd begin to help the cause!

LoganNRory4ever, I don't know if the video is on YouTube, but I do know that Julie is planning on putting it on DVD and mailing it to the The CW.  I will e-mail her and ask about YouTube though. Wink

I made a letter. I'll send the letter in one week.  It isn't a good picture. Sorry. http://pic5.piczo.com/mona-sk/?g=34667892

Mona, it's a little small for me to read ... but it certainly looks good!  Thanks for the support!

Haha, Aryan, we were only hoping(or wishing) we would find out yesterday (with the luck of the irish on our side Wink )
But no such luck.
So until we do find out, it's "fight, fight, fight"! we must!

I think everyone is doing a great job, helping in anyway they can. It's really a great sight to see. Now, if only we could see the faces of all the people whose inboxes and mailboxes are being flooded with letters in support of a season 8.
Let's hope all the hard work pays off, and soon!

Oh, and Heidi, I liked the video. Tell Julie she did a fabulous job.

As for the ideas, Rob, I think if we could figure something out it would be great.
The problem with The Banner Campaign is that we're so international, how many people could be get already in CA or willing to go to CA for that. And if it's not many, it might not be worth it. Though, still, I'm really loving the idea!
As for the Newspaper one, well let's just say, I'm working on a new batch of letters now and I'll be sure to include my newspaper logo, along with an explination. Wink

In case anyone hasn't seen the original Gilmore pendant thread, I wanted to share the information over here as well.

Drew (aka Copperboom!) came up with the fantabulous idea of creating Gilmore pendants that fans can print out and use to show season 8 support.  You can wear them on your clothes, find a string and make a necklace, the ideas are pretty much endless.  We've even added new colors to pick from and should hopefully have even more colors soon.

If anyone has access to a digial camera or webcam, please take a photo so that we can see your Great8Mandate efforts!  Thank you.

In the past, GilmoreGirls.org designed two shirts and sold them through the site.  The one shown in the picture is our second design.  At this time there are no more shirts left and there are no immediate plans to print more.  My apologies.
