Pretty soon I will be making my monthly purchase of paperback books at Amazon. Does anyone know any good mysteries or other books they would recommend? They have to be under $10 to count in the 4 for 3 sale.

yes, he hates yellow and loves red
I was actually going to pick it up a while ago, but my boyfriend told me I never read anything by him, and it might not be a good read-I'm mad at him now! I knew it was going to be a good book, and I can relate to not liking the color yellow as well. I'm going to make him get it for me now-plus what's the point of finding anything good, if you don't take that chance in trying something new.

I heard that Life of Pi is about religion. Is that true?

Insert Quote Pretty soon I will be making my monthly purchase of paperback books at Amazon. Does anyone know any good mysteries or other books they would recommend? They have to be under $10 to count in the 4 for 3 sale. I was checking out the books on that sale the other day and there are so many good ones to choose from. A lot of classics & new ones too. An auther that I really enjoy, especially his orginal ones is Vince Flynn. Term Limits was the 1st and here's the link and info from Amazon. You can even get it used for $1.50! All of his books are quick reads and once you start you'll be completly sucked in. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0671023187/qid=1140229288/sr=1-3/ref=sr_1_3/002-7916755-8680816?s=books&v=glance&n=283155Good luck w/ your hunt!

I have a question for you readers... I read pretty slowly(I'm not a reader at all) when I do read, and I was just wondering how fast you read on average? For example, 2 pages a minute, or 120 pages per hour.

@ Setrix: It depends on the book and where I read. I've never really stopped the time, but I think it's something around 1-2 minutes for two pages.

I so have never timed how fast I read. I usually measure it in weeks - how many books have I read in a week? 2 weeks? A month? It all depends on school and holidays and what books and/or books I am into. I usually race through crime novels for example. I heard that Life of Pi is about religion. Is that true?
I havn't read it but my cousin said it was very very good, she didn't mention anyhting about religion though. I might read it, but I hope it isn't about religion because I am not the biggest religious freak in the world. Not that I am knocking books about religion, I mean if you like them go for it.

Has anyone heard of "The Jane Austen Book Club". I saw it in the book store today and thought that it sounds quite interesting.
And I have bought "Jorge, the Brazilian" (I don't know if this is the English title, I just translated the German title). It was cheap, that's qhy I bought it in the first place. But it's also nice to read more about Brazil.

What is the Jane Austen Book Club? I'm guessing it's a club where you read books that she wrote?

there is religion in it but it is not soley based on it. I'm not a devout religious person and didn't find the book to be pushing religion.

I thought it was a book club too, don't feel too stupid.
I'm not the biggest Jane Austin fan, I've never been able to get too far in her books. IT's not the description I can't read, it's just that the plot is so slow. Any recommendations on a good one to start and try again?
