Yeah, Caryn, I know that's what I was originally going to do but I'd have to go through episodes and take my own screen caps for Rory reading books. So, I had to go with this for now. I have a few captures with Rory reading now, but I can't find any more right now so it's on hold, probably until I return from vacation. I will be able to spend more time finding or making good captures. Doing a google search doesn't bring up many different pics of them reading. Sad That's all Rory does sometimes so I was surpised I didn't find more.

That book sounds interesting, Cheri. I haven't read Coffee at Luke's. I've heard mixed things on it. Let me know what you think of the book. I don't know that I'd read any Gilmore books but they could be good. You can talk about anything you want, silly! Smiley

I have been to both Borders and Barnes & Noble and they are both doing a special event at midnight tonight for the book's release. I haven't gotten too into my Twilight book yet but hope to get through it so I can move onto the next time. I know many people who are just dying to get the new one! It's good that the bookstores do these special events for book releases! It keeps people interested in reading, which is always a good thing! I'm sorry that Erin has to stay there that long! I take it she doesn't read the books but has to work the event. I thought the event was over shortly after Midnight when the book comes out and people are given a little bit to purchase it. I wish I were more into the series as I've always wanted to attend a book release party at a bookstore. They did them with the Harry Potter releases too.

To all those lucky ones who will get to read Breaking Dawn right away.. enjoy!! I hope it's amazing.

I'm annoyed at my summer class because it takes up most of my time and I haven't even finished my re-read of Eclipse. I'm not going to be able to read Breaking Dawn until the end of this month. I plan to reserve the 22-24 or the 29-31 for my read. It will be done before the fall semester starts on September 2nd!

Ahhh I'm so jealous of those who will read it! I'll be so out of the friggin loop and will have to avoid any Twilight messages boards/web sites at all costs! At least I'll have it to look forward to. I can't wait!

The fourth one is Extras and it is already out  Smiley

haha thanks!

@ pwrofluv - no prob im pretty wise when it comes to books

Going way off topic here for a minute, but it is about a book I just bought. It is 'Gilmore Girls and the politics of Identity: Essays on Family and Feminism in the Television Series' Edited by Ritch Calvin. It is basicly like 'Coffee at Luke's' as far as it is filled with essays from several different people. I haven't been able to get into it yet because right now I am reading three other books so I will save this one until I finish one of the others. I did notice in the introduction that three Gilmore Gilrs web sites were listed and Gilmore Girls. org was the first mentioned. Thought that was kind of cool. I don't know if this is the best place to put this and if not, if someone knows of a better place, you can take it there if you want. I haven't read about it here but that doesn't mean it hasn't been. If it has, I am sorry about bringing it up again.

Now, back to your discussion on the Book Club. Smiley

@ cherilee13 - i lik the idea of that book it sounds lik something that could really grab everyones attention Smiley

@ everyone else   Cheesy  - as you all know we r having the final voting tommorow for the book club book and Chris is supposed to list all the books suggested so everyone log in to vote and try to get some other ppl to join!!

No, Erin isn't into the Twilight series, she just had to work the event at Barnes & Noble.  The event started at 10pm and then they started ringing everyone up at midnight.  It took about an hour to get everyone taken care of and then they had to clean up the store.  The people at these special events seem to like to leave a mess behind.  It was even worse after the Harry Potter events.  She got home at about 2:15 am. They just schedule them later just so they are covered if things should run longer.  She did bring me home some fangs and stickers.  Cheesy

The Coffee at Luke's book wasn't really what I had expected, but I did like it and it did get me to see some of the episodes from a different perspective.  I think the same will go for this new book.  Once I get to it I will let you know what I think of it.

Erin brought home this book from work several months ago (she gets these advance publishings for free where the publishers send out rough copies of books to book stores to be read and then the reader sends back a survey form).  It is called 'The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society'.  Strange title so it caught my eye and I just started reading it.  It takes place right after World War II and it is all letters between a writer and people who lived on this British island when the Germans bombed it and then occupied it until the war was over.  It is really good if you are into history.  The funny thing about this is while I was reading it the other day, the mail carrier came with my People magazanie and in it there was an article about this book and they gave it a 4 star rating and listed as the People Pick.  I know that this is probably boring to you but I just thought that it was funny and it is about a book that I am enjoying.

Shocked Shocked Stephenie Myer will be devasted.  Her vampires don't have fangs and the fact that they were used in association with her books release - not good.  Cheesy  I still have to wait another day to ger my copy.  Sucky international release dates! Cry

HMMMM!!! Well, she will have to take that one up with Barnes and Noble.  That wasn't Erin's fault.  Erin wants to know how the vampires drink blood if they don't have fangs.  She says that the part of the idea behind the biting, other then to be able to drink the blood, is sexual.  Is neither of these of importance in Meyer's books?  Her questions, not mine Smiley

LOL - all good questions Cheri.  Well the books are aimed at the young adult market, so it's all about first love without being overtly sexual.  And SM's vampire have razor sharp venom coated teeth, but not fangs.  So they still have the lethal bite, but they just look more human.

Counting down the hours...

I have millions of books in my room that i haven't read but want to:

The Years by Virginia Woolf.
Crime and Punishment.
Swann's Way.

I lean towards choosing something classic. But i think reading anything for fun and not out of obligation would be refreshing right now. Cheesy

Dang, millions of books in your room? Must be mighty crowded in there!  Grin

I have not read "The Years" but i love Virginia Woolf. "To The Lighthouse" and "Mrs. Dalloway" are two of the greatest novels i've ever read.

I once started "Swann's Way" but i couldn't get through it. The first ten pages felt like one long sentence and i started getting dizzy.  Cheesy But i'd like to tackle it someday because i could smell greatness on the pages. I wish you luck with it!

Crowded? Oh, no. Not really. There is enough room for both of us. We chat together when it gets too quite.  Wink

Talking about "The years", it's written on the cover that this book is her most popular novels so maybe you should check it out. Look at me, i am advising you to read a book i haven't read yet!!  Huh

I know what you are talking about regarding the Swann's Way. I read ten pages last Summer and it felt like you said, one long sentence. But i think i will like it if i give it a chance.

Sorry to post a downer, but Solzhenitsyn just died. Paris references him in season 6 when she's newspaper editor. Rory likens the offices to the gulag and Paris replied that "Do you think Solzhenitsyn could have written One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich on a yoga retreat?"
He wrote some amazing books and won a nobel prize for lit.

To be honest (aside from the fact I  haven't read anythin besides medical journals and anatomy textbooks for months), I think vampires wor better on fiml. Which, usually I disagree with, as books are often better, but I think it's such a visual thing, it works better that way.
Interview with a Vampire was an incredibly powerful film, but the book felt a little melodramatic and intentionally provocational. I find that with a few other vampire books I've read too.

Ok, rant/ramble over Smiley I promise!!
