Who's character you don't like and why?

There are a few characters I don't like. 

I don't like Emily because she's cruel, nasty, mean to Lorelai, never thinks anything is her fault.

I don't like Richard because he's just the same as Emily, only he is more subtle.  He won't scream to your face what a screw up you are, but he'll say behind your back that you don't know what you want, like your a kid instead of a grown woman.  He defended Lorelai to Christopher's parents, but later on, told her that it wasn't because his daughter was being attacked.  No, forget her.  The family name was.  Actually, he will criticize people to their face.  Not only to their face, but in front of their employees, their daughter, undermining any authority they have.

And, now, Rory.  Oh boy.  Sad thing is, I used to like Rory.  A lot.  Although Lorelai has always been my favorite, I always identified with Rory more.  Until every boy liked her.  Until everyone started saying how wonderful she was.  Until she slept with a married man, and the show made sure to make the only innocent person (Lindsay) such a bland character that no one would be inclined to feel sympathy for her.  Until she became valedictorian for no other reason than she's one of the stars of the show.  (Because no way would Paris not be valedictorian.  And, I don't even like Paris)  Until she got into every school she applied for.  Until she got community service (hey, Rory doen't come out on top!) only to turn into the sweetheart of the convicts, and have the guy in charge asking her if she thought it was time for them to quit for day.  Until she acted like a crazed maniac with a pathetic need for approval (hey, I won't try another job, I'll stalk the editor of one paper because he made me sound good) and got a job out of it.  When they decided to rewrite history and say Mitchum Huntzburger said she wasn't a good writer, instead of saying she didn't take initiative, so naturally we should all ignore what he said.  When they decided that Rory Gilmore is a princess and anything she does wrong is someone else's fault, and even when something bad supposedly happens, she's still shown to me the best and brightest at everything, well, the best thing I can say about Rory is I really like her hair this season.

I do like Richard and Emily (well, at least sometimes), but I totally agree with you about Rory, including the hair. You're reading my mind here, I don't like her (much) anymore. I just hope this will change soon.

That has been bugging me. One minute they want to shove her onto a busy street, the next they hand their cigarettes to her to quit smoking. And she's calling the shots. Ugh. She even managed to convert Logan into a commitment guy. Marvellous Rory.

But she has always been in desperate need of approval, she just wasn't as annoying as she is now. And she still blames Mitchum for everything she has done, she hasn't really learned her lesson yet. Though no one around her seems to notice.

I've got it!  Rory has super cloaking powers.  She blinds the other characters on the show into thinking she's perfect.  And, she also uses her powers to make people like Mitchum, who hasn't fallen into the Cult of Rory, seem evilllllllll!!!!!!!!!!

The reason why is because he's so annoying and he always gets on Luke's nerves. I'd rather listen to a really bad singer all day then to listen to him yap about all the things that are wrong and he has too change it now..... all day long. I feel bad for Luke when Taylor starts to argue with him over nothing.

Okay, from way back when - Tristan.  The best way I can say why is to contrast him with Dean (pre-character assasination for Dean).  Dean notices a fundamental aspect of Rory's character.  She's a reader.  This intrigues him.  However, he picks up clues that she's not interested, and he backs off.  Like a gentleman.  And, even after she lets him know that she is interested, he doesn't push anything on her.  He lets her decide that she wants them to be a couple. 

Now, Tristan.  This is pre-Rory pheremone phase, so him pursuing her didn't make me annoyed at Rory.  Tristan didn't like Rory.  (And, the last minute "lets give Tristan some depth before we send him to One Tree Hill" didn't convince me, either)  He wanted to conquer the new Mary.  The fact that someone actually didn't like the great Tristan Dugay was just inconceivable.  Instead of backing away from hints the size of The Great Wall of China, he just kept coming. 

And, another Tristan/Dean comparison.  They're behavior at the dance.  (Funny, my favorite Dean moments come from dances).  Dean refuses to fight, only gets a bit forceful (and that's too strong a word) when Tristan starts acting rude with Rory.  And, Tristan?  Like a yapping puppy dog.  "Come, on!  Come on!  Fight me!  Fight me!  Put 'em up!  Come on!  Lets take it outside!  Yip! Yip!  Snarl! Give me a slipper to chew on!"  Although, I love dogs, and hate to insult them by comparing them to Tristan.

But anyhoo..mine would be Tristan also, his ego and everything just bugged the crap out of me. Although I did think that him and Rory were gonna date but ehh.

I don't think he meant kill literally.  I think he meant Tristan was obviously no match for him, and if he chose to fight, he would win.  He was warning the yapping hyena off, but yapping hyenas never listen, do they?

And, it would have been terrible if they had Rory date Tristan.  She never showed any indication of liking him.  He was never anything but nasty to her.  The only reason they possibly would have gotten together would have been because the actors looked good together (I'm conceding to anyone who thinks Tristan was hotttt! because I don't see it).  Which isn't enough for a relationship.  Thank goodness they didn't go down that road.

LOL  But we should reserve the Wonder Woman outfit for Lorelai. And evil Mitchum is nothing compared with evil Emily.


Taylor is annoying, yes, but I can stand him because he's not in every episode. I've never really liked Dean, although he was quite a good first boyfriend for Rory. I was turned against him when he cheated on his wife and then broke up with Rory in public. Again.

But  the one person who irks me most is.....  You've guessed it Christopher ...    And the reason is he only showed up for rory on very few occasions-- her debutant ball- i can understand why, tho.. Lorelai asked him. But he didn't help raise her, and now he comes back... RICH, and then wants to help.. Where was the help for rory when he was raising his other baby?!

I've heard rumors that those phones go both ways and that it's completely accepted by society if a daughter wants to call her father.

Yes, a lot of those problems were on Christopher, but have you ever seen Rory pick up a phone and call her father just because? We've seen Rory call Christopher rarely, if ever, and Christopher has called countless times.

Straub and Floyd are my least favorite characters, but I hate no one on the show.
