Right, lets calm down a second here. I'm new to this forum but I was so horrified, horrified, by Lorelei and Chris getting married that I signed up especially.
My sense is that this is the final season so they want to give us what we want in the end. By having them marry this early it allows plenty of time for it all to go to hell in a handcart. I remain optimistic that Lorelei and Luke will end up together. Ditto Rory and Jess (or is the general vibe on this forum in favour Rory and Logan as a long term item. Surely not!)

There's a rule that you can't be editor after a certain time.  I'm guessing graduating seniors can't be editor anymore.  It was vague, just a comment about the bylaws (a comment that was mumbled by Rory, which is why I think almost everyone missed it).  So, Rory couldn't be editor.  She didn't quit, her time was simply up.

Now, does anyone know if that rule is true at Yale for real?  I've hunted but the real bylaws of the YDN either aren't online or I can't find them.

Have to get this one out, lol! Ok so is just MY OPINION and i's ok if u don't agree. I was watching the newest episode of gilmore girls and i have to say my feelings changed. I've always wanted Lorelei to be with Luke but I didn't exacteley barf seeing her with christopher. When she and luke got together i was ecsastic. Although i do not like the way he treated her in season six, the breakup was really hard to watch. Seeing her with chris was not as bad as thought would be in the first few episode's of season 7. The latest one made me very annoyed though. First off, lorelei marrying chris despite her initial reation of no made me upset... the thing that finally made me stick to luke and lorelei was when chris called her mrs. hayden and then went outside. The look on her face said it all, she is still very much in love with luke and in my opinion they are meant to be together. Sorry for this long anaylis Smiley and i'm open to comments and opinions.

Well, I agree that seeing her with Christopher doesn't exactly make me want to hurl. This is Lorelai's fantasy, a reckless romantic relationship/marriage to someone who gets all of her weirdness and won't break up with her.
But there's a hidden layer to it: Her wild and fun relationship with Christopher is very distracting, but it's a bandaid for her unresolved Luke-feelings. That is, if she has any. I think she must, even if she truly believes it could never work with Luke.
In a sense, Luke's and Christopher's positions in her life have been reversed. Heh, let's see how Christopher likes feeling jealous of Luke.

Hey guys, it's been a while since I've posted here and thats mostly cause I was unhappy with where the season was going. But the last 30 seconds of French Twist have resorted my faith. That look that Lorelia has on her face, we've seen before...it's the beginning of the end. I will admit that I was enjoying seeing her happy for a bit even though I didn't like that it was with Chris, but I am happy to see that Lorelia hasn't completely changed! Also, I liked Rory's storyline. I think the Marty thing is going to be interesting and I like how she did have someone to break down to since Lorelia was away and we all know Paris is no help. I know she has Lane, but Lane is dealing with a few of her own issues right now! I liked seeing Lane and Zach in the episode, as well as Luke and Ms. Kim! Anyway, for the first time since the premier I am really looking forward to the next episode! (Not to mention I'm happy that I have a DVR now, so I really won't miss it!)

Well I'm thinking your right about the whole "give us Luke and Lorelai!" thing...but it's gonna take awhile to get there. As for Rory and Jess, although it's my MAIN dream, it's not likely to happen. I mean, the repeated Milo saying he's not coming back should re-assure us of that...unless it's all one big cover-up??? lol (just let me dream, okay?)  Tongue

haha.thats a great dream of mine too!--great sig by the way!
If lorelai does end up with luke after divorcing chris or whatever, i think that'd make me lose some respect for her. It just seems like she has made some bad decisions these past few seasons. Although I wouldn't mind L/L getting back together, the fact that Lorelai would have to split up with Chris kind of ruins it for me. I guess i just remember lor as very cautious when it comes to big things, and if she divorced Chris for Luke, then it's her admitting she made a wrong choice. Any of this making sense?

There are only a few things I'd like to respond to...

For one, bashing the script by saying that Rory "the list maker" would never break down and not have a plan.....is silly. Rory has given us numerous examples of her inability to think through to the future. And, those moments came with ASP writing, so please give DR a break. Sleeping with Dean while he was married, letting a criticism from Logan's dad  detour her from her plan, stealing a yacht...Rory has been a lost soul from time to time on this show. I for one find it refreshing that Rory is unsure about her future because she is opening her eyes now. Determination is great, and working towards a goal is great, but she is stepping out of the tunnel vision she has had and letting herself go. You go girl - take your time and make sure you choose a career that you as an adult will enjoy, not simply a career you thought would be good for you as a teen. Life changes sometimes.

As for Lorelai and Chris. I'm so back and forth about this. On the one hand, I was just so fed up with Luke's behavior at the end of last year that I was ready for anything. Chris is a nice distraction. He does get Lorelai, they have a lot of fun together, and Lorelai really needed that. Luke is such a sourpuss about EVERYTHING! I know people thought France was cheesy and Christopher was gross in his loving gestures - but at least Lorelai got to enjoy a vacation/holiday. Luke would have found a way to complain about the French people in a grumpy way, would have complained about the jet lag, and probably wouldn't have shared his secret powerbar that he keeps on hand in case he's hungry. Okay, that last example was not really serious, but my point is that last season was just too serious, too depression. I'm happy Lorelai has had a chance to be excited and happy about something, without Mr. Serious.

That being said, I think the elopement was nuts. But then again- so is Lorelai. (in a good way guys, don't jump all over me, I come in peace.) I think some great things are said on this forum, and I hope that most of the negative talk is just post-show ranting. I really think  DR deserves some support. It is so tough taking over the reigns of such an amazing writer like ASP - especially considering that this was her creation from the beginning. I think he's really jumped into this and I do believe (pathetic optimist in the midst) that this season is going to play out in interesting ways that will be lovable in the end.

I know we all want back the days of Dance Marathon GG, and Santa Burgers....but it just seems to me that life moves a lot like this show has, which is why I love it. We always romanticize the past, youth. I'd like to see Rory reading a book more than I see now. But I think I'm pining for the early episodes the way I am pining for my childhood. I know - cheesy. I'll go join Chris in Paris now and revel in cheesiness.

I'm sorry but :" Welcome home Mrs. Hayden?" she doesn't seem really happy about her wedding and what about us? we were totally left out of this. just like Rory! "I can't marry without rory" well , what did she do? why did she changed her mind? can somebody tell me?  and what kind of father is this chris? "She will be thrilled..." about what? about her mother mrrying without her? whitout even telling her? same with her father. i mean she liked luke, didn't she? The whole episode was like jumping in times. I mean it seemed like half a year has gone by during this episode. "Twins" i wonder if i closed my eyes for half an hour during watching the show? did I miss something? i was unable to follow the whole storyline at some points! rory has new friends, changed her hair colour,.... Did she call Lorelai? they always talk! it feels like everything has parted... rory and lorelai, lorelai and luke (where does she get her coffee?), rory and Lane, where the hell are emily and richard. (i have to admit i haven't seen the whole sixth season, cause i 'm from germany and the sixth has just started on tv...)

I don't like chris and lor being married, this doesn't work. if it would, they could have done this before. i mean always " I love chris, i hate chris, i love him..." what is this all about. we know they will always kind of belong together but they do not work as a couple!

hope things get better next time...

I thought it was really sweet the way Christopher offered to live in Stars Hollow with her even after one of the townies punched him in the face.

I? Spoil an episode? Surely you jest.

I was talking about during the proposal, when he was talking about their life together and how he would live anywhere with her. He mentioned Stars Hollow.
