Yes Emily is definitely up there on my favorite characters list. She does want the best for Loralei and Rory and Richard. She doesnt always go about showing it in the right ways though.

Actually, there's been some discussion on the subject and we decided we were using that thread for their relationship and this one for Emily, just her. Thanks for posting the link though

Da bomb? i dont think so i think that she just is too wicked now i think her daughter is the bomb. I think i can remember one time when i thought emily was cool and that was in the fourth season when she cracked her noggin and she was spending all of her and richards money at the mall with lorelai and rory then when gran died
and she was acting like.......... not rich is a good way to put it smoking in the house, smoking at all not getting ready for the wake and everything it was like she was normal kinda cool not so lady like but kinda cool

Huge kudos for Kelly Bishop! I love her as Emily. She's so witty and funny! Almost exactly like Lorelai! (No wonder they picked her to play Lorelai's mom).

I bought season one and two of 'Kate and Allie' the other day. In an episode where Kate's co-worker is pregnant, Kelly Bishop played one of the other co-workers! She was practically the same character as Emily: sarcastic and dry. She looked good. x
A friend of me is waiting since weeks for that DVD box *G* Was it a big role?

Richard and Emily are both amazing characters thst bring so much to Gilmore Girls. The show's dynamic would not be the same without them. They bring so much to the table. Yes, we all agree that they can be a little stubborn and close minded when it comes to other point of views, but they are really good people that only want the best for Lorelai amd Rory.
Put your-self in their shoes, if your 16-year-old daughter came home pregnant, you woul be disappointed too. They tried to support her and Chris by offering them to live in their home and offering Chris a job (actually a decent posision, I'm sure) at Richard's company. They tried to help their daughter, even thought Lorelai didn't want their help. They tried. And it was hard for them, people of their wealth, class, and place in sociely, to explain to thier friends and family that thier 16-year-old daughter had a kid, dropped out of high school, wont be going to college, is working as a maid, and is not with her baby's father. That must have really hurt them. They offered help and support, but Loerlai did not accept (no offence to lorelai, I still think that she is amazing!) Just like anyother parents, they want what is best for their daughter.
They would never do anything to porposely hurt Rory and Loerlai, yes, we might disagree with them sometimes, but they only do what they think is best.
This show would not be complete without Richard and Emily!

I love Emily 99% of the time. While she can be very harsh and rude at times, she also has emotional moments that make me feel sorry for her. Her sarcastic comments are hilarious and she is just overall a great character! Kelly Bishop does an amazing job (give the woman an Emmy!) .

Emily is such an interesting character! When she pulls sly evil moves on Lorelai we just love to hate her. I love how she gets really excited when she's using gadgets or doing something new!!!
