sorry shelly i had to jump in. Renewal of VOWS not vowels.
The richard character sort of bugs me sometimes. i dont know why, he just does. EMily though, I love. She is so condesending, but i love her to death. I loved in The Prodigal Daughter Returns when she was trying to buy a plane. Emily: Lorelai, let me be frivolous and shallow, please. Hee! Emily and Lor's relationship is just as important and Lorelai and Rorys relationship. Lor and Rory wouldnt have that relationship if Lor and her mother werent so distant.

Emily is another one of my favourite characters.. she is hilarious! I love the scene where she's talking to the little girl and she thinks it's April LOL So funny.

I miss them in the new Season so far, the show isn't the same without them.

The more I go back and watch my DVDs the more I love Emily and Richard. I think my turning point was "Dear Emily and Richard". Deep down I've always love their characters though. Lorelai and Emily are more alike than they would like to admit.
The actors do a terrific job too. I used to see Kelly Bishop in the show and think of "Dirty Dancing" but now it's the reverse.
Realized last night that Richard looks a bit like my uncle with his mustache.

Emily is a great character she is mean sometimes but I think maybe she doesn't relize how much. I agree Emily and Lorelai are more a like than they would ever admit, they are both stubborn, strong and tell it like is women.
Richard is a good character too,but I like Emily more she is just so fun.
I hope the day will come when Lorelai and Emily can have a good relationship and get passed all the crap that isn't worth staying mad this long.

Emily Gilmore is my second favorite behind the lovely Paris. I believe that deep down, Emily would like to be like Lorelei but is too uptight to try it. Emily has her moments when the sun shines on the young girl inside her, like when she danced with the stranger for a few moments then freaked out, thinking she'd been unfaithful to Richard. Or other times when she genuinely reached out to help Lorelei in some way. I just think she has a good heart and can't help the way she acts...it's how she was raised, and part of her is angry SHE didn't rebel like her daughter did. I love Emily...

I think everyone else already covered the best moments, so I just wanted to chime in and say I appreciate them both, and only started watching the show because of Ed. Otherwise I wouldn't have any idea what you all were talking about, lol!

I think that Richard fell in love with Emily because she is so similar to his mother. I just love the scenes where Trix gives Emily a taste of her own medicine!

Is it just me, or is Ed's voice extremely soothing?

I love Emily!! Kelly Bishop plays her so perfectly. I can't imagine anyone playing the part better. She my 2nd favorite behind Loreli/Lauren Graham... well maybe it's even a tie!
