I just thought that we should have a Kelly Bishop and Edward Herrmann Appreciation thread to, since almost all of the cast already does. Enjoy!

Thanks for the thread Kaylarox! And you can modify your post. At the top right hand corner there is a button that says modify you can fix his name there. Then you don't have to double post. Wink

I am really loving Richard this season! As for Emily im not so sure. She can be okay in some episodes and others just horrible! But in other seasons she is one of my favorite charaters.

I'm afraid I can't appreciate Emily or Richard, but I can appreciate the actors who play them.  I've been a fan of Edward Hermann for years, (first saw him in Annie, and love hearing his voice pop up on The History Channel) and Kelly Bishop does a lot with the sometimes shoddy material they give her as Emily.

Kelly Bishop and Edward Herrman are really amazing.

And I totally agree with you, Lindsay, about loving Richard this season. One of my favourite Emily episodes is The Reigning Lorelai.

I like Emily in Scene in a Mall. Kelly did an amazing job in that episode! The food court scene is my favorite!
I also really like Emily in Wonderland!

I liked her in those episodes too. I've watched them both this week. Scene in a Mall had one of this great Emily/Lorelai moments, when Lorelai told Emily that she has learned from her how to handle things. And when she tried to eat a hamburger with fork and knife, that was funny.  Cheesy

My favorite episode with Emily is still the one where she finds the letter that Richards mom wrote to him begging not to marry Emily. I love how funny she was!!! It was great!!! Grin

There have been two times when I've liked Emily.  One when she told Christopher he had to leave, after he came to see Lorelai when he and Sherry got back together.  I thought it showed real motherly feeling towards her daughter, something I don't see often with Emily.  And, her best was in Christopher Returns, when she went to talk to Rory, after Christopher's parents attacked her.  I thought what she told Rory, that neither her person or her existence was ever counted as a mistake even with all the other problems in the Gilmore family.  And, I thought the adding of existence was important.  Sure, she could have said that after they got to know Rory as a person, they found out she was worth having, but this said that even though the pregnancy itself was a mistake, from the beginning, Rory never was.

@ Dani: How could I forget that Christopher scene? That was really her best moment. It hink, her intentions are always good, but the problem is how she handles things sometimes.

@ kaylarox: This is not a picture posting thread... You can add pictures to your posts, but please also write something too.

I've had a very rocky relationship with Emily and Richard.  There was hate...and some love...and a lot more hate...now it's mostly a balance.

I loved the scene where Emily told Christopher he had to leave.  Lorelai was standing there, yelling how much it was hurting to just talk to him, and it was like the one time Emily actually listened to her.  It was really refreshing, but I just wish there could be more clarity like that.

Ohh yeah I forgot about that scene! Emily has her moments when she is awesome!
