Amy Sherman-Palladino Jumps to Fox!
By Michael Ausiello
August 1st, 2006

I was just about to go to bed when I noticed this story on Variety.com and nearly swallowed a mouthful of toothpaste. What do we think about this!?!? And what do you wanna bet Sherilyn Fenn gets cast as one of the sisters!?!?

GILMORE GIRL LANDS AT FOX

"Gilmore Girls" creator Amy Sherman-Palladino has set up her next series project, landing a put pilot at Fox Broadcasting Co.

Deal comes just weeks after Sherman-Palladino and husband Dan Palladino ankled "Gilmore" after failing to come to terms with Warner Bros. TV on a new deal.

No studio is attached to Sherman-Palladino's new project, a half-hour dramedy that will revolve around two estranged sisters who reunite after one of them agrees to carry the other's baby.

Sherman-Palladino will write and exec produce the pilot; she may direct.

it's good that she's moved on but the fact that it's described as a "dramedy" worries me. i hope the script doesn't have the characteristics of GG. i have a feeling there might be similarities between the 2 shows, but i could be wrong; i hope i'm wrong. i don't think amy would do something like that. i'm sure she'll give the show its own personality like she did with GG. best of luck to her but it's upsetting to think of her on another set instead of GG.

a mother and daughter..which are more like friends/sister. A pair of sister uniting again and bond so one of them can have the others baby. hmm...somewhat connected? lOL, i would be extramemly funny is Sherilynn Fenn was one of the sister.  Smiley

Dramedy is a pretty broad word, and lots of different shows can fit in it. One of the first shows to be called a dramedy was Hooperman (cop show) in the 80's, although some people think M*A*S*H fits the description.  I'm sure there will be some reminisces of GG.  Not plots or characters or even a deliberate attempt on ASP's part to make it that way.  In fact, I think ASP would try her best to not to make it too similar.  Anyone in the creative business has to prove that they can keep producing work, and I'm sure she doesn't want to seem like a one trick pony.  Or have people wondering why she didn't just stick to GG instead of making a clone.  But, since it's her voice and her show, I'm sure something will be the same, just like when a writer writes books and their voice comes through each one, even if the books are completely different from each other.

If ASP thinks its a good enough story line to attach her name to it, then I'm totally willing to give it a chance.  Where would we be without her stories? Smiley Not on here!! I guess I don't want to doubt it until I see it... if Amy thinks it's worth a shot then I do to! And I am excited for her, I hope that she really enjoys it!

^I hope so too!  GG is her "legend" so I'm sure the characteristics will be different that GG.

I wonder if Dan is working with her on this one too?  They make a great team!

If this does make it on the air, I would definitely check it out simply because it has ASP attached to it. But it does kind of sound too familiar to the whole GG concept don't you think? The whole two female characters and one of them having a baby....maybe I'm just overanalyzing this.

I was watching the extra stuff on like the third season and ASP was talking about how the show started and how it has progressed and how successful and she said this: " This is the top of my career. There's no where else to go but down. I have peaked with this show"...or something along those lines....and unfourtnatly I think she was probably right.

I'm glad that Amy got a new show lined up on Fox! I will give it a chance because I like to try to stay positive about things in general! However, I'm a bit nervous because I get so excited about things and then am let down. I think she's a wonderfully talented person and have LOVED every bit of the Gilmore Girls so I'm thinking that I'll really like her new show! However, from what this article has stated, it doesn't sound like somthing I'd get into really. I could be completely wrong! I'm hoping so actually! I wlil give it a try! I just don't want to keep thinking that I'll be totally into it just because it's in relation to Amy...ya know?

I'm definitely happy for her and want nothing but good things for her and her husband!

Like I said in another thread: I'm an AS-P fan first, and a Gilmore Girls fan second. If by some freak chance Amy's new show airs against GG, I will watch the new show instead.
