I thought the April/Luke storyline was cute (although I still don't like the hat!). Shows how Luke is really coming into the whole fatherhood thing. Luke's never been to Target...thats just awesome! (Really funny for me since my bf and best friend work at Target!)
Yes I was laughing when April said Tarje(not sure on the spelling but the is how I say it too) and Luke was like what and April was Target and then he said that he had never been to Target.  I can't believe that he never went to Target it is just hillarious to me!

Yeah, what a riot. I've never actually seen someone fall for the 'Tarjhay' gag. If it weren't endearing I'd call Luke a dork.

after watching the opening scene all i had to say was THE GIRLS ARE BACK!!!!!!! loved the rant by Lorelai about snakes on a plane and the other movies. getting the show off with cultural references, very nice. moving inside with lorelai and rory was just as great! the witty, back and forth is back. it was very funny at the very end when lorelai found her clothes in rory's bag. i am happy classic lorelai and rory were back. and i think it did last the rest of the episode although lorelai and rory weren't interacting with each other.

despite the chris and lorelai dates i admit that this was the best episode of the season so far.

emily's arrest was hilarious!!! she reacted exactly as i thought she would. lorelai taking pictures in the police station was great.

i don't know what to think of rory's new art friends. the jury is still out on that one. but my initial reaction was get them off of my screen. when rory got her logan call when they were at the apartment and rory said i'll call you later i was heartbroken a lil. logan was disappointed they couldn't talk then but he wasn't gonna force a conversation. those art girls better not pull rory away from logan time.

the april/luke target convo kept me laughing. luke: i've never been to target" april: i don't think i've met anyone that hasn't been to target" hahaha...i laughed so much. when april brought out the candles and started talking about luke having dinner with a special lady i thought for sure she was talking about lorelai. but later when she went on about her biology teacher i figured that april knew about the L/L split.. but the look on Luke's face when he thought april was talking about lorelai coming over was sooo sad. i almost cried.

kirk going on about his women troubles was great.

while i disapprove of the lorelai/chris relationship because that means lorelai isn't with luke, i gotta say, chris knows how to impress girls. i have nothing against chris, i just don't like him being romantically involved with lorelai. the movie date in the car was sooo romantic. don't hurt me but it was a perfect moment.

i believe that's all i had to tak about. i'm sure i'll think of something else in the morning after a good night sleep after a great episode of GG  Cheesy

Alright, I missed this episode and I really want to see it.
There's a link for a place to go if you miss an episode to get a copy of it, but the link is broken.
Does anyone know where I can download it?

You're going to get your wrists slapped for talking about engaging in illegal online activity (viewing episodes on the internet when they aren't released by the network is illegal). Tsk tsk! Tongue We can't help you darling. Great screenname by the way!

For the first time since the season began, I truly felt sad. I did. And, I'll be honest, I've put on a real positive attitude about this season. "It's just build-up for a great reuinion between the two!" "It's all about them growing and realizing their mistake!"

Unfortunately, as a loyal Luke/Lorelai fan, I was overly disappointed in the epsiode. Usually, I get some relief out of the sub-plots of the story -which were weak. I didn't think Emily's arrest was the least bit funny. Her coming out of the police department was a serious echo of Rory's arrest.

It's almost like they're repeating storylines. It makes me sad to see Chris and Lorelai at the front door, kissing goodnight. He shouldn't be there. He just shouldn't.

It made me sad to see them walking onto the grass, and not seeing Luke's green truck there. Instead, some loser car. (Actually, the car was super cool, but that's besides the point.)

It made me sad to see Chris at the door instead of Luke.

Over all the epsiode just left me with a sad feeling. That is a feeling that, this season, I was trying not to let myself have.

---

Rory's new friends are as annoying as hell. She's lonely, I think.

---

Congradulations to Richard. He's a swell guy. Really.

---

April? Too cute for words. I love her. I really do. The bonding between her and Luke was priceless.

Anna? I'm afraid of a romance between her and Luke. I honestly do. I fear it.

---

Is it wrong that, right now, in the show, I'm getting more Gilmore-pleasure out of Paris Gellar and the cute happenings in her life than the happenings in our Girls' lives?

And is it wrong that my favorite character has swiftly switched from Lorelai Gilmore to Sookie St. James? Call my hastey, but that's what I feel.

Oh- and, by the way, Luke's eyes looked really nice in this episode. Ohh, Luke.

I can't take the arrest of Emily Gilmore for driving a car with a cell phone seriously. On either count. The policeman arrested her for being annoying, and he should be sued. And I intend to use the line about a community breathalyzer the next time a policeman pulls me over just to meet his quota.

I'm trying to put aside my feelings about the L/L relationship for now, but there's one thing that's kind of bothering me. How are they so over each other already? I know that it's been six weeks, but still. Last season Lane was still in a funk about her fight with Zack six weeks later. How is it that each one seems to have blocked out their defense mechanisms (Lorelai breaking down, Luke storming around angry)? I might have been content if someone like Patty or Kirk had mentioned how Luke's angry phase only lasted a week or something, but it wasn't there at all. It seemed kind of like DR tried to wipe the breakup out of the plot so that he can go on with the season, which is reasonable, but unsatisfying.

I didn't like April in this episode. She seemed annoying. I was afraid she was trying to set Luke up with Anna, so I was relieved that it wasn't what she was thinking. It might just be nostalgia, but I liked it better when Jess was living with Luke.

Also, I felt like Luke's mini-rant about violence/weapons in schools would have been a good L/L discussion in the earlier episodes. Not that the violent ballerina references weren't amusing, but I get the feeling that it would have been more natural just between him and Lorelai, and not speaking to the whole diner.

Yeah, that was unlikely. You have a right to refuse to take the breathalyzer, so that was no excuse to arrest her. And she wasn't driving erratically, so he couldn't argue that she was drunk. There was actually a case here where there was a huge traffic jam, right after they passed the cell phone law, because of policemen stopping cars whose drivers were on their phones, meanwhile at the same time on the other side of the island there was a drive-by shooting, and it took the police forever to respond to it because they were too busy writing stupid tickets. It did not go over well.

kirk going on about his women troubles was great.

Until girls4ever mentioned this, I had forgotten all about Kirk's "women troubles" whining early in the episode.  That scene seemed completely pointless to me, especially since that was the end of it.  (Dani, I think that relates to what you were saying about this episode seeming to be a series of random events.)

Some of you commented on how you loved Sookie's behavior in the kitchen while Lorelai was talking to Christopher, but I wanted to strangle her because she was being immature and passive aggressive.  She has been getting on my nerves for quite some time, with the exception of how she responded when Lorelai told her about her breakup with Luke.  I used to love Sookie, but it seems that she gets more and more over the top with each episode.  Either that, or my tolerance for her has just lessened a LOT.

Okay, a few more thoughts.

First, I would have picked another movie.  If they were going for a light romantic musical, how about An American in Paris.  It had Gene Kelly, a romance between him and Leslie Caron, and they sang 'S Wonderful, 'S Marvelous in that movie, too, so it would have fit the title of the episode.  But, it wouldn't have given Lorelai fodder for age jokes (although I think Gene Kelly was considerably older than Leslie Caron, only the age difference wasn't as obvious as Fred Astaire and Audrey Hepburn).  I'm sure she could have found other snarking possibilities, though.

As far as the thing with Funny Face, Audrey Hepburn was never the typical Hollywood ideal  in those days. She was very different from the buxom blondes (Marilyn Monroe) that were the norm, so I think the movie was playing up that.

Now, I liked Rory's storyline (if only it were with two other people) and I didn't find it at all insensitive or harsh that she asked to call Logan back.  I want her to have a life outside of Logan, not just for seeing him feeling a bit lost (not because I want him hurt, just because it's one aspect that's part of the story), but because I want Rory to be more than just the girl who waits by the phone.

Speaking of annoying, this is the first time I saw the Aerie girls discussing the episode at the end.  What is the point of that?  Stupid.

Uh, I've never been to Target.  I know about Target, but I've never been.    I don't think I've ever been anywhere where there was a Target to go to.  Do they have Targets in Louisiana?

(Hope this posts.  I kept getting a message that the topic had been removed or my priveleges had been revoked.  But, I've been good!)

The point of that is shameless advertising.  It really is obnoxious.

I keep getting that error message too, so I'm sure it's nothing personal.  Wink

I thought it was good for her, too, for the same reason you mentioned.  It reminds me a bit of her rant in season three about not being "that girl" who sits by the phone all night waiting for her boyfriend to call, and I'm glad that she was able to be strong and be in the moment instead of stopping her Yale life to have a conversation with Logan.  I just wish the people she were with were more endearing.  I hope they aren't around every week.  I don't think I can handle hearing, "He/she's a genius!" much more.

ETA:  I wish I could say I've never been to Target.  My wallet would be a lot heavier if I'd never been.  Grin

this episode was bad.

If Emily got arrested last season, all hell would of broke loose. She wouldn't have been just the annoying lady, she would have been extreme.

April is back?! I hate April.  I hate how she talks, I hate how she acts, I hate how she is such a prissy nerd.

Lorelai and Christpher's relationship is a yawn.  It's uninteresting and awkward.  And Suki is usally so supportive, what happened?? She really seemed like she didn't want them together.

And Rory's new friends?? Their conversations were meaningless and unentertaining.  I have no idea where they're going with it.

I have yet to feel that true unique Gilmore Girls spark this season.  But I guess if any writer could match the creative wittyness of Amy Sherman's humor then Gilmore Girls wouldn't be so special.

Well, it seems the artsy girls aren't too popular over at TWoP either.  Someone said that they make Finn look substansive.  I completely agree.  They're about as subtantial as air (less, because you need air to breathe).  I honestly can't think of what they're like.

No, they're like an annoying version of Tigger.  And, I hate Tigger.

And, shallow comment, is wearing a shirt as an entire outfit a fashion now?  Oh, wait.  That was a dress tall Tweedle was wearing, wasn't it?
