I'd give this episode a big thumbs up. There are parts that could have been done better, but all it all it seems to be in true gilmore form.
Loralie trying to take it slow with Chris is believable. He's hurt her tons in the past so she's trying to play it smart, but taking things slow and "protecting herself" is making her not seem like her self.
April, in my opinion, can just fade back into the background. The creation of that charector was a misstake from day one. She's anoying.
The new friends of Rory's are..... interesting. I can kinda see why she likes them .... thier the only ones she's ever met that like Paris, i could see that as an endearing quality since she's stuck by Paris since chilton.
The phone call with Logan really ticked me off at first but after thinking about it, seeing Logan realise that she's not siting by the phone would be good for him.
Emily geting arrested ... wow. That was so funny.
It was great that Chris was with Loralie. He understands her where Luke never could. Luke always seemed baffeled by Loralie and he never really let her into his life. Chris and Loralie belong together.
I CANT WAIT TILL NEXT WEEK
NOT!!!! LUKE & LOR 4-EVER!!

I haven't seen this episode yet but I did tape it so I will watch it when I can. But from what I saw in
the previews it looked good. I mean I liked that Rory expressed her feelings about Lorelai dating Christopher. I mean she had a good point in saying she should be careful and that she didn't want her Mom to get hurt again.
I also thought Christopher did a sweet thing for the date they had. There aren't many drvie in movie places anymore and even though I have never been to one I think they are neat.

THERE BACK!!!
[/glow]
I think the Gilmores are back in style! I found this Eppi so much closer to Amy. Though we will never have Amy back, Dave sure tried last night! There were funny parts last night!
Funny Parts!!!
And the Emily arrest, let me just say,HA! Kelly Bishop is such a good actress.
I didn't like the your not good enough for me act either. She seemed so prudish. But the date was so cute!
NOT! THE EPISODE PRETTY MUCH BLEW EXCEPT FOR LOR MAKING FUN OF EMILY AND EVEN THAT SEEMED OFF! CHRIS MIGHT HAVE DONE SOMETHING SWEET BUT, CAN YOU REALLY TRUST HIM? IF HIM AND LOR GET TOGETHER AND GET MARRIED LIKE IT WAS PERCEIVED LAST NIGHT ON THE PREVEIWS FOR THE NEXT FEW EPISODES I'LL THROW UP. LUKE AND LOR BELONG TOGETHER IN THAT NUTTY STARS HOLLOW. CHRIS DOESNT BELONG(PERIOD)

I logged on this morning expecting to read lots of negative comments about this episode, only to find lots of people loved it. I couldn't stand most of it, now I am wondering if it was my mood, and look forward to seeing it again when repeated. A couple of comments, I thought it was weird that Luke had never heard of Target, and it seemed out of character for April to care so much about the decor at Luke's. I did like their interactions, and thought it cool they had moved a bit beyond the ackwardness from last year. On LL, I find it odd that both of them seem to be handling the break-up so well. Not that previous episodes didn't show them being sad, but that now they act like it was long ago, instead of a couple of months. I thought the C/L interactions rather lame, and didn't like that she thought Chris was the only one who would have understood. I think both Luke and Rory would have gotten it, maybe Sookie too. And the Emily getting arrested thing, seemed just stuck in there for a laugh, not connected to anything else really. I did like her suddenly noticing that Chris and Lorelei were together in the convertible and her comment and look --Are you on a date? And I didn't connect to Rory suddenly getting so chummy with those girls, inviting them in, having them turn on the stereo and stuff. It didn't fit that she'd meet these people at an event, and then invite them over right away. I liked the one comment someone wrote that maybe this episode was laying a foundation for the upcoming ones. So maybe it was transitional, and not meant to fit together that well.

My thoughts about this episode:
The episode started and ended with Chris and Lorelai on her front porch after a date. On the first date they say goodbye and on the second he's invited in. There are a few justifications for this in the script, the most obvious being Chris's big romantic gesture. The second two reasons are alluded to in the dialogue. Lorelai and Chris are both single parents, and on the first date Rory was still at home. They made this clear by putting Rory right in the living room next to the entrance. On the second date, Rory is away at college and Chris makes it clear twice Gigi is at her grandparents' house. Finally, Luke could never deal with Lorelia's parents. This wasn't a problem most of the time because Lorelai usually couldn't either, but now she's seeing Christopher is able to integrate himself in and out of that world, since he grew up in it. Luke will not be able to do this - will the Gilmores meet him halfway?
Rory and Logan - I'm surprised more posters aren't mentioning Logan's "Your new boyfriend" and "sounds very wholesome and loud" lines, instead focusing on how Rory blew him off. The writers are setting up Logan to get a little jealous, which is understandable. Plus Rory is now hanging out with two artsy girls who make fun of Logan's expensive but tacky furniture and decorations. Where will this lead? Well, they kind of flirted with the idea of Rory running with an art crowd when she went to Philadelphia to see Jess read. I wouldn't be surprised if Rory ends up questioning her focus on journalism this season, as a possible repercussion from her disastrous internship experience. This is going to lead Rory away from Logan who represents the elite (again, the girls make fun of his decorations) and also publishing (his new job, his dad's communications empire). It's difficult to see Rory quit something she's been dreaming about since season 1, but this happens all the time in college. They could be setting up Paris as an example of someone who would excel at being a reporter, as a counter to Rory.
Funny Face - It didn't take long for them to take advantage of their new access to Paramount's vaults. For a long time it seemed they were always watching WB movies but now they have a new library to play with. Since Audrey is perfectly suited for Lorelai's tastes (GG fans as well) and so many of her movies were with Paramount, this is a match made in heaven. However, I doubt they'll be watching any Star Trek movies in the near future.
A last comment on Rory's new friends - they just seems like an artistic version of Logan's spoiled, snobby friends. They're loud, rude, elitist, and condescending to others. They don't really like Paris as a person, they just find her amusing as an extreme character study. One of the girls went so far as to say she "worshipped" her. As if that's supposed to be some kind of compliment. It's just disappointing to see Rory constantly interacting with people who seem to dominate her and change her to fit into their lifestyle. She hasn't made any new friends like Lane, but I guess that would make her life a little crowded since there's only so much airtime to devote to Rory's friends. And yes, this is another cry for the writers to bring MARTY back! He's the only one who was down-to-earth.

LOGAN: Move in with me. Paris' place is a hole anyway, I never liked that you lived there. And that doo-wop group downstairs? I don't think they were an honest-to-goodness singing group.
RORY: Logan, that's really sweet. But I can't move in

I really loved the episode and appreciated the date with Lorelai and Christopher. How much better can it get than rescuing Emily from Jail?!! I just got really confused after the show was over cause Veronica Mars was on and a clue in the episode for the crime she's solving is a piece of popcorn in a backpack and I was like "there were 2 girls making popcorn in her apprtment....waaaait....wrong show".

Did someone say that hey had access to the Paramount vault? Luke and April are original trekkies. I want to see them do a movie/original series marathon while they're cohabiting!
My favorite 'Emily' scene (apart from the 'stinky breathalyzer' look) was when Lorelai deflected her observation about the date with more 'penal code makes us giggle' stuff, and Emily eventually just rolls her eyes and puts her hands over her ears. She should try that at FND!

I guess it just didn't come off at the time that Logan was actually worried (although he might be in the future and maybe this was a hint that was so subtle it flew past me). I thought he was making a joke and was able to talk about a boyfriend because he was so sure there wasn't one. Easy to joke about something you're not afraid of. And, maybe it's just my odd sense of humor since I've been known to joke with my mother about the men I had to chase out the window when she comes by, because we both know it's not true.
I would like it through if they played up Logan wondering if Rory might not feel waiting for him is worth it. Not much, not a whole big L/L debacle, just a little bit and have it work out satisfactorally in the end.

Well, it's been beaten to death on the L&R App thread. I kind of like the idea of Rory and Logan reversing roles, with Rory backsliding into dangerous behavior because she's depressed about the separation and can't tell anyone.

S'Wonderful episode. S'marvelous comeback. WOW! I hadn't realized what I was missing in the first three episodes. This eppy had the pop culture references scattered throught.
Parts I Enjoyed
1.) Sookie. Loved the pot banging and gourd chopping part. OH so funny.
2.) The romantic part of the Chris/Lorelai date.
3.) How Chris calls Lorelai "Lor". I just think its cute and personal.
4.) Emily. Jail. 'Nuff said.
5.) Rory's new friends.
Parts I Disliked
1.) Luke and April. (I do like that they are getting to know each other, but now how they are...idk.)
2.) How Chris acted when Lorelai was giddy over her mother's arrest.
3.) How Lorelai let him in.
4.) How Rory blew Logan off.
Thats about it for now. More later.

Well, inviting crack addicts back to her boyfriend's apartment and partying on a school night. I know it's not an LDB stunt, but she looks pretty sad. It could escalate.
Chris is so understanding about Lorelai's, umm, insensitivity because he's known her that long. Luke might not have enjoyed it with her, but I don't think he would have held her glee against her. He's had direct dealings with Emily, too.
