jess was the hero he told rory that she wasn't herself and pushed her to go back  to school if he never came around rory would have never gone back to yale. And Logan was being a jerk to him and he knew she would have realize this when she was her normal seld when he left.

I can't understand what people mean when they say Jess saved Rory and was a "hero"?!?!?!?! What exactly did he do to her? He only yelled at her, nothing more. Typical thing of him to do. He didn't calmly talk to her, he just yelled at her pretending to know her. And i don't think there is anyone who knew Rory less than he did. He called Logan a jerk even though he didn't know him. They both were acting out of jealousy. And by the way, how did he have the nerve to ask Rory how could she be with a jerk even though she dated Jess "the bigest jerk of all"? So is it ok for Rory to date a jerk if only the jerk was Jess?

high-five!  although jess might have been a semi-catalyst in rory's returning to school, i really think she was about ready to. jess just came in at the right place and the right time

I won't get many replies but for some reason I really do hate Jess!!! Anybody else who hates the guy?!

Well, I don't HATE him but I dislike him quite a lot. He's annoying and ungrateful.

I actually think Dean would have been a better catalyst than Jess. I mean she's going to take life advice from someone who never even graduated high school because he was so arrogant and sure of himself? Someone who attempted to get her to leave Yale himself barely a year before so she could sleep on someone's floor and be a courier? At least Dean dated her for longer than 6 months and saw her work towards her goals. (Though I also dislike Dean, but if we had to bring in an outsider to fix this...)
Actually if the writers had been thinking they would have had her identify the problem herself and decide to return on her own without Jess's advice. It stifled her character growth to be told there was a problem by someone else.

I just started watching GG (from the beginning), and I'm up to "The Bracebridge Dinner," so maybe I'm judging Jess too soon, but he annoys me so much I can barely watch his scenes. I understand why Rory likes him: he's great-looking, bright, clever and well-read, and he likes her, and did I mention he's great-looking? But he's also angry and unhappy and plainly determined (at this point -- things could change) to break up Rory and Dean. He wants Rory for himself, but even if he didn't, he'd try to break them up, because he resents her happiness. And for what it's worth, I like Dean a lot. I haven't seen any of the wimpiness that some other posters object to. If Rory loses Dean and gets Jess, she's making a rotten trade.

I hate Jess. Dean was a way better boyfriend. Jess was rude, uncaring, unhappy and treated Rory like abosute sh*t.
