I didn't exactly get at first the "love" rocket, then I thought 'That is so romantic!'
I hated the fact Rory would have to wait until Christmas to visit him in London

Yeah I didn't get why he got her Christmas tickets?
He said something like: " You will have the tickets tomorrow!" And i'm thinking,
It's spring break why not get her a ticket now?? Is he hiding something maybe??

Yes. He's hiding that he's just started a new job, has new responsibilities, that it takes time to get into a groove, that at this point in time, he might not have everything down enough to really give Rory an adequate amount of attention if she did come right now. Or, he's hiding that he had no idea that she was thinking of coming for the summer so it's not like he told her she can't come for the summer, he just thought of Christmas.

It's impossible to tell when you're being sarcastic without inflection (smileys.)
It is kind of telling, though. At first, Rory asked him if he was at the office 'on a dare,' but she immediately buys and decides to encourage him in a newfound work ethic. I thought it was presumptuous of her to assume that was what Logan wanted or that she would be a distraction. Playing 'house' with her didn't keep him from graduating, and I think she could entertain herself in London between 9 and 5 every day.
It's a really supportive move on her part to hide how much she misses him, but it could backfire. Maybe he needs to be missed, too.

Crap. I could probably compose a whole classically long post in response to this, about the way the story of their relationship is unfolding, but it would go beyond this episode. So, I'll have to post it in the R/L thread, but I still have to compose a post to your last one there before I do this one. Maybe by that time, I'll forget what I wanted to say here, and all will be well.
Anyway, I think one difference that Rory might feel is that Logan already knew how to be a student when he was playing "house" with her. He knew how to do the work, and probably how to do it with the least amount of effort. I don't mean he slacked off, just that he managed to do it with her, and with hanging out with his friends, and with his own meltdown that didn't get as much attention because it coincided with Rory's more spectacular meltdown. He was an excellent juggler. I also don't think school is that difficult for Logan. Not because he's a genius (although he is highly intelligent) but because he never put any extreme pressure on himself scholastically. Pure speculation, but I kind of see Logan a bit like me when it comes to school. My primary goal was passing each class.I liked A's, but never felt a B was something to be disappointed in, and for classes I hated, I was perfectly fine with a C. (I don't know if a C is passing at Yale) So, his intelligence along with his (alleged -my allegation) laid back (again, I'm not saying Logan didn't do the necessary work) approach, I think it would have been easy.
Now, London, I think he's trying to give it a fair shot. And, although he's had exposure to that whole world, I think this is the first time he's really been in it in this capacity. As a professional. So, Rory might feel that he doesn't know how to give her a fair amount of attention this early and juggle his job. I also think that he might feel the same way, and he'd want to do that, because except for him, she'd be all by herself. He might feel it's not fair for her to come all the way out there if he is going to leave her to her own devices for hours.
As for him needing to be missed, I'm sure he does. But, I get the feeling that they're going to explore his issues with the distance (at least, I hope they explore his) on a different angle.

I see more of a paralell between Yale and London than that. Logan doesn't seem to be having difficulty meeting his new responsibilities, and there was never any reason to think he would. It's something new, but Logan is sharp and has a lot of innate ability - it's hard to see him struggling with a corporate environment after graduating from Yale.
I understand why Rory would not want to suggest dividing his attention, but her work at the DAR did not hinder his studies, and unless Logan has been working some hectic startup hours, he should have enough time on his hands to make Rory worry about how he's spending it without her. She could have at least let him know she was available and let him decide without making him feel guilty if he had to choose work.
Logan giving London a fair shot is a little subjective. If he is in fact giving it his full effort and not some minimum that he can get away with and be in compliance with his father's wishes, you could have a point about Rory taking up too much of his time. The fact remains, however, that if Logan is serious about London and then Huntzberger, Inc. as a career path, he should be eager to include Rory in his life while getting accustomized, since it could concievably be his job for the rest of his life.
The thing is, he had gotten a lukewarm response to the rocket when he bought the tickets (in the first version) and he may not have known how she would feel about 'dropping everything' to be with him over Summer.

Maybe Logan figured it would be impractical (or figured that Rory would find it impractical) to make several trips to London over the year, and instead of asking her to come right away for the summer, he decided that Christmas was a good almost-half-way point. If he only expected her to come once or twice - which seems normal - I think he would want to space the visits out, instead of a visit immediately and then nothing after that.

That was my point. Rory didn't tell him she wanted to go to London over Summer, and he didn't say he wanted her to, either. As a result, neither of them knew, and they wasted all that time on a 'Gift of the Magi' story.

Logan did not exactly point out that he did not want Rory coming earlier. He probably decided like said before that Christmas was a good time to meet. Rory did not necessarily take it that he did not want to see her, but as a disppointment. I hope this long distance relationship lasts though.

anyway, i think there might have been some major symbolism going on. i'm probably going over the top but...
car= lorelai feeling fine about the L/L relationship.
blinding light= April.
crash= the relationship.
the decision to wait for the insurance guy or not= the pressure to get married.
but i know for sure that's what the car crash symbolized because luke kind of put that in place of where he should have put their relationship in his speech in front of lorelai's house.
i've gotta go. bye!
You are dead on Emily. There was some MAJOR symbolism going on throughout the entire first episode. Especially during the Sam Phillips "LaLa" song.
Lorelai tearing at her mattress, unable to get comfortable. Throwing her bedspread around. Throwing pillows away, grabbing more pillows. She can't figure it out. SYMBOLISM: She's never able to stay in anyone's arms or find comfort in love for very long.
Luke sitting statuesque in his restaurant. HIS restaurant -- his pride & joy. He sits with his arms folded. Big hole in the side. A cluttered mess everywhere. There's a broom nearby, but he's not ready to clean it up. He just sits in the mess. SYMBOLISM: His love is gone. There is a huge hole in his heart. And he's not yet ready to pick up the pieces. He just sits in silence & shock over the events with Lorelai and the effect that her whirwind wares have wrought in his heart.

ok, i totally understand why Lor pulled an ultimatum (sp.?) on Luke, he did make Lor wait way too long but i really think they could have worked it out some way or another, and Luke needs to understand Lor's side. i dont know who to be mad at but all i know is im not liking the way this turned out..
