i think that lorelai and luke should just try to get past this whole thing with Christopher b/c they were so long ago. But thats just how i feel about it!
But they weren't so long ago. They just slept together! I don't now that Luke will get over it. I think alot of time willl pass with Lor drinking alot of Winston's coffee before Lor realizes she needs to appologize to Luke.
Well this is not just something one can just get over. It's hard and it's a betrayal in the eyes of Luke.

yeah i agree with that but he waited for her for 8 years and if they could just talk through this than i think he wont walk away from her! In Season 1 everyone knew they would end up together, i dont think they'll just walk away from eachother!

I agree. This will be hard for Luke to overlook, but I think he eventually will. He knows Lorelai and how she sometimes does stupid things when she's upset. I have to say though, that I am proud of Lorelai telling Luke so soon, I mean how long did she keep that fact that she went and stayed with Chris when his father died. This time she told him in less than 24 hours.

Lorelai telling Luke so early was good, I agree. But earlier she had never done anything as serious as sleeping with anyone. This time the matter is more serious than any time. Luke if angry and if he doesnt want to marry her anymore is pretty understandable. What I really hated was that Lorelai could have said a little more after her guilt made her confess so early. She must have made him understand what she felt after the night when Luke did not agree to running away with her. She could have told him in what vulnerable state she was in to do what she did.

I hope if any apologizing is done, it's not just from Lorelai to Luke. Their problems didn't emerge poof! when she slept with Christopher.
Also, there really wasn't much time for her to say anything else to him after she told him, because he left immediately. And, it made for a better ending to an episode than having it go on. Things need to be saved for later episode.

Just getting it straight - I thought Lorelai slept with Chris to stop herself from getting back with Luke the next day. The bumper analogy kind of clears up the "who broke up with who" question and makes it seem that she needed a break from him, even if Christopher hadn't been involved. Perversely, if she
hadn't
slept with Christopher, she might have forgiven him the next day, even without a proposal.

It looked to me as if Lorelai went to Christopher to cement absolutely in her own mind that she was done with Lunkhead Luke. It wasn't a short-term or one-time thing. She won't end up with Christopher, but it was her way of burning the bridge back to Lunkhead.
She absolutely does
NOT
owe Luke either an explanation or an apology. She should flush the big dolt from her lovelife, altho maybe they can eventually speak to each other and remain friends.

I agree with Mike. Weird...
I guess the question is: Could (or would) she have stayed broken up if she hadn't been with Christopher that night?
If so, then she didn't have to tell him about Christopher, and eventually they could have been friends. But Luke gets a little violent when he feels cuckolded. I doubt he'll be able to keep it together well enough to be civil, let alone friendly.

Well guess we will have a better idea tonight right? I just don't like that she lost Luke as a friend he was a great friend. So honest and cares about Rory a lot.

Yeah, I'm still getting used to new episodes being only a week apart again. Less time for analysis.
Maybe the new Rory will insensitively try to stay friends with Luke this time. The children always get caught up in the middle...

I feel Lorelai breaking up with Luke will have a more impact on Rory than Lorelai breaking up with Chris. No matter what you think Rory has been more closer to Luke than her dad.

Interesting thought.. about how will the break up of Luke and Lorelai impact Rory. She won't be away at school like she was the last time they broke up. Rory is in Stars Hollow all summer long. When Lane comes back from her honeymoon and returns to work at Luke's, I would imagine Rory will still go there. Rory has dealt with Lorelai's break ups before, but no one as close as Luke since she's known him since she was a kid.

i agree with MikeinLa...Lor has nothing to apologize for if you ask me. she went to Luke, she gave him a choice (which was also the right thing to do) and he just let her walk away. he did not even try to stop her or anything. to Lor that said "hey this is over" yeah i hate that she slept with Chris cause he isnt good for anything either but i think she used that as a way to concrete the fact that she was done with Luke. she wasnt cheating on Luke or anything close to it, she decided she was done with it. Luke should be the one doing the apologizing, he should have been down on both his knees begging and pleading while giving his "lets elope" speech. While all Lor's chosen paths may not have been the right ones (cough cough sleeping with chris cough), i do believe she was right to get off the path she was on and change directions (giving Luke the ultimatium). at least thats my opinion.....stay strong Lor!!!
