No, I agree it was nice that he wanted to be friends, and surprising...but after a while, I kind of felt he was always in Jess' way, always there for Rory to compare them.

I guess so, and I guess Rory was acting pretty normal like mostly everyone would in that situation, but it was all too much. And, besides, what's with her being so insecure, not seeing obvious things like that mistake, or, not to be to strict towards her, anyone can make a mistake, but then going along with it and being with Dean still. Totally not Rory.

Dean was turning the tables on Jess, getting in the way just as Jess did to Dean. He was getting revenge. I'm not a Dean fan but i got a kick out of that story line anyway, although he still seems like a doormat for Rory. Besides, the problems that Jess/Rory had in season three had little to do with Dean and more to do with Jess and his own issues.

Rory was inexperienced at relationships and often acted unfairly and selfishly, but i agree completely that the story line of messing around with a married guy was "not Rory" and waaaaay overboard. She is a highly intelligent character who can be swept away by her emotions in a relationship, but that was too much.

Yeah, but the difference is that Dean was always in Jess's way just for pure revenge, and Jess was always in Dean's cause he was in love with Rory,he couldn't care less about Dean. That's when Dean started going on my nervs.(And besides after I've seen Jess's effort to get Rory,I fell in love with him Cheesy and Dean kinda automatically got out of the picture.) He was always meddling there, wanting Rory back(even though she had hurt him really bad,I'll admit that, but that's another thing),and manipulating with her guilt-cause I'm not so sure she really wanted them to be friends at that moment when he asked her.And also, that thing about the two of them sleeping together-Dean is the one to blame too,I mean the fact that he was miserable in his marriage and tempted by Rory is not an excuse,he shouldn't have gotten married then,if he already knew he still loved Rory.
The "he's my Dean" sentence is really not Rory, she should have known better than to say something that stupid, but I see it this way: at that moment she was really upset, and what's more she tried to defend herself from Lorelai who kept rubbing the truth-which was painful for her-in her face,so she had to minimise what she did so that Lorelai wouldn't look at her differently.Sorry if I spelled something wrong,I'm from Serbia so my english is a bit worse than yours, but I'm catching up †Wink

Glad you're here, Una! You might want to join Ines and the other silly Literatis at the Jess/Rory Literati thread. Smiley

I don't agree that Jess was only interested in Rory and couldn't care less about Dean. First of all, Jess knew full well that he was moving in on Dean's gal, and moving in on another guy's gal is a no-no. Second of all, there were times when he hinted that his dislike of Dean was a factor. For example, in when he explained to Rory why he out-bid Dean for the picnic basket he said that he hadn't intended to spend so much but seeing Dean made him want to do it; he even expressed resentment over Dean's height. I don't doubt that Jess liked Rory, but he took a certain glee in antagonizing Jess. Also, i still think that Dean, in turning the tables on Jess, did still have feelings for Rory, in addition to sticking it to Jess. It's almost funny what these guys will do for Rory. Poor Shane gets lost in the mix. Cheesy

None of this is meant to excuse Dean from his act of adultery. That's on both of them.

Yeah, that too  Grin

Well, okay it wasn't right what Jess did, and yeah he didn't like Dean, but what he said to Rory about the basket bidding and the height I think that was more of an excuse rather than to say he liked her.

Aaaawwww, well thanx, glad to be here Smiley Smiley Smiley
Ok, you're kinda right about Jess being annoyed by Dean, but I didn't get it from the episode with the picnic basket, cause, that's where I agree with Seni-that he just said that so he wouldn't have to admit his affection for Rory, but in the episode where he brings her food from Luke's and Dean catches them having dinner with Paris-you could just see that pleasure on his face when he teased him about his hights and his Frankenstain look.Mwahaahahaha,I adore the guy. Cheesy So,ok,you are right there, but, still I think it's rather pathetic from Dean to almost beg Rory for friendship after what happened,I mean, come on,have some dignity.I think the reason why I like Jess so much (besides the obvious coolness Grin)is because he's so unpredictible, you could never have enough of him, cause he's not always there,he won't do anything Rory asks him-whatever the price, like Dean would, whih was kinda sweet for a while, but then you get kinda fed up with it,and he just starts bugging you.

Ok,I see that most of you guys hate Rory for sleeping with Dean while he was still married, but come on,you could see she was obviously sorry about that, and about Lindsay too, minutes after she did it with Dean. She ran out of her house and cried,of course she doesn't feel proud about what she did.
I do mind that she's kinda treating Dean like dirt, but he sure as hell deserves it with all that needy behaviour.I don't know, I haven't whatched the whole show yet,I just got to the episode where she slept with Dean,so I don't know if I'll change my mind about her later, but for now,I look at Rory the same as I did before. Wink

Ok,I take it back. She's acting totally slutty.Dating other guys while in a relationship?(I get that she wanted to make a point, but that's just not the way the old Rory would've done it)...Being all "I love you Dean" and "He's my Dean" and than agree with him when he says he doesn't belong in her world? I mean come on even Dean doesn't deserve that. She was saint Rory that you could put on top of a Christmas tree, but now she's just one more girl. She did change.  Angry

Wow, you do know how to rant!!! I agree that the comment of "He's my Dean" or "he was my boyfriend first" was not Rory-like. It was too childish and stupid to come out of the former smart mature Rory. But regarding what you said "dating other guy while in a relationship"; the thing is she wasn't in a relationship. I don't mind that she tried dating  but she was sleeping with Logan at the time.

That IS the point!! First of all - it was ok to her to NOT be in a relationship with a guy but have sex with him on a regular bases? That is not Rory, that's Shane! And second of all-even if she wasn't in a relationship, it just seemed not-Rory to date a guy just to use him as a weapon to make the other guy (she was not in a relationship with, but was having sex with) jealous.  Angry
Ok,you can see I got pretty upset. Cheesy

I love Rory Gilmore. the Mary-Sue is tied between Lorelei and Rory and they both fully deserve it.† a true fan woulnt dislike the main character.† Matt Cruzchky (or however you spell it), also known as Logan Huntzberger, said in an interview about the show that he and rory were voted the most beloved couple on GG.† he said himself and rory work very hard together at their job to make it best for viewers.† i own the whole series, im like a great sorce of GG information, so i could give you a million reasons why rory deserves a mary-sue award and shouldnt be ashamed of it but i dont want to bore you. to further this message back later.† in my opinion, there should be a thread for mary-sue rory award LOVERS.† obvesouly you dont agree.† maybe you should watch Samantha Who becuase melissa McCarthy (sookie st. james from gg) is in it and in neither show is she the mary sue.† so there, i rest my RORY LOVED case. That's all fine, but this is the Rory Gilmore Unappreciation thread. We all agree Rory is a nice, well brought up, smart and pretty girl. We just don't like some of the things she's done. And this is the place to talk about it. There is also a Rory Gilmore Appreciation thread, so you can check out that.

And believe me, we are all true fans.

P.S. - yes I have watched SW, and am also a member of Heidi's Samantha. who? forum.

I second that. Just because we love the show or the characters doesn't mean we should approve of everything they say or do. Part of what makes the show great is that the characters are complex. They have flaws. They are not perfect, if they were they would be boring.
