I’m not sure that Rory knew she loved Dean at this point.  Of course she knew she cared for him but it seemed like loving him had never crossed her mind.   And she really didn’t say anything at first, it wasn’t until he pressured her that she started coming up with explanations.

I used to know a gal who once said to me, "I don't think love, it's not on my mind". That's how Rory comes across to me. She is not anti-love but she is not someone who is always "looking for love". I think she is a naturally cautious person anyway, someone not ordinarily given to bold statements. Dean haters will point out his needy reaction but it's typical of many people who more explicitly think along those lines. It was natural for him to say the words just as it was natural for Rory to hesitate when she heard them. I'm not saying Rory does not want to be loved, of course she does, but it's a matter of degree in how a person thinks.

I got that she was afraid. You know, thinking that accepting a car meant they had to get married or have sex or something. Maybe even that Lorelai would be disappointed or envious that she'd settled so quickly. Nothing about not knowing or thinking that she loves him, just not realizing how goofy Dean was for her until he laid it out like a seven-year-old horoscope. It's scary to realize the guy is way more serious than you thought you were!

The look in Rory's face when Dean said "I love you", looked like she was hit with a baseball bat or something.  Poor Rory, not knowing what to think or feel and no one, aside from her mother and her grandparents, had said that to her.

Lorelai, annoyed at the festival and everyone in love.  Just as she and Luke were feeling the same way came Rachel.

She's pretty.  Damn, Luke.  He's managed to score with some hot women.  I like Rachel, she's pretty but I don't think she's right for Luke and poor Luke, confused and such.

Man, that was a boring date.  Thank God Richard felt the same way in helping Lorelai to bail out.  She misses Max and is feeling all bummed.

Watched like 4 Dean/Rory episodes yesterday, so I'll offer my opinions on them all.

That was so sweet of Dean to make a deal of the three month anniversary.  Imagine the one year anniversary Wink.  When he told Rory he loved her, however, I would understand how he would feel.  He just put his heart and soul on display only to be greeted with silence.  I can feel for Rory to, because she did not see that coming.

I loved how Lorelai and Luke where on the same page with the festival and then came in Rachel.  It's like everyone had someone expect Lorelai.

Then there was that Dinner date.  I adored that Lorelai and Richard felt the same way, like father/daughter.  They were united in something (finally).

Rewatched this episode today and I got to tell you, its one to watch when you are feeling really depressed! Dean and Rory, sweet and cute about the whole 3 month thing. But honestly, unrealistic to expect something out of someone after 3 months.
