Thank goodness the forum is back.  I don't know how it happens, but somehow, when there is no forum within reach, the stupidest people on the face of this earth gravitate towards the shoutbox.

I'm not saying everyone who uses it is stupid, because I used it, and I saw some bright people (white onyx, anyone?) post some intelligent stuff.

But do you know how many times I read "I luv loreleai and roiry!!" or "OMG jess is so friggin hot!!"  I don't know, either.  But it was many many more than I ever needed to.

And so, I say: Bless you forum.  And if you ever mysteriously vanish again, I will be forced to fling myself from the top of the highest building I can find.

I totally agree with TheHumanCoffeePot. I read so many retarted things in the shoutbox I wanted to chop my own head off. I got so annoyed once I actually posted how to spell Lorelai's name.    Props to everyone who posted intelligent things

Enh, I don't mind so much.  I'm glad the shoutbox is out there for them to post silly things... keeps them occupied so they don't think to come in here and muck around with the forum

But yes, the shoutbox just can't be compared to the forum.  So again to everyone who helped get it back up <kneeling and bowing> we're not worthy!  we're not worthy!

There are some subtle features in the new forum that I think are just GREAT.  Maybe they were in the old one and I just didn't notice.

1) When you are typing a post, it gives you a warning if someone posted between when you left the thread to post and when you post.

2) When you are posting, you can pull in quotes from other posts in that thread, making multi-quotes very easy.  I don't remember seeing this before.

I am so happy this forum is finally back. I was about to go crazy without the ggforum.

Oh, Can anyone tell me how I can get my avatar to show up. I looked all over the profile thing and couldn't find a place to upload my av. It's probably really obvious and I'm just missing it. And whoever said something about the shoutbox was soooooo right. It got to the point where I couldn't read it anymore.

Finally somewhere you ca have a grownup conversation about GG! The shoutbox was killing me....you couldn't even say surten words. It's not like I usually curse a lot, but it's just insane if you don't use surten words.

I wish there were a way to know who "hit us with a pretty stick."  I totally understand not showing who considers you "snarktastic".  That could start a fight or something   But it would be nice to go "awwwww, thanks, you're sweet" to those to hit you with a pretty stick.

Currently, Heidi and I can't even see the karma logs, but there's a mod for that. I don't think it will be available board-wide, but honestly... I don't think everyone should have access to that. I mean, if it's your friends who are raising your karma, that's just another way to turn it into a popularity contest.
