I think it's because they no longer have any "hold" over either Rory or Lorelai - the money paying for first Chilton and then Yale and the subsequent Friday night dinners was really the only guarantee they had to seeing them on a regular basis. Once Chris had paid for Rory's tuition they had nothing to blackmail them with.

hmm i thought they were mad because
a) like Marea said they didn't have anything else to hold over them
b) and also i think its because at the time Rory wasn't speaking to them therefore once christopher had paid for rory's tuition they were no longer guaranteed to see Rory at friday night dinners.
I think that they thought that Rory would do a Lorelai and run away and never talk to them again until, (like Lorelai was) is forced to.

im not sure if this is the right forrum to talk about this but
when you buy the 6th season does anyone know if it comes with
a Gilmore-ism guide (pop culture references) i bought the 6th season today
& it didnt come with one & i was thinking maybe i got a returned one.
i have season 2&3 && they both come with a guide to pop culture
but since i dont have all the seasons yet i dont know if they all come with guides
so if anyone knows just let me know.
