Summary: While the whole town is busy making arrangements for Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Max's (Scott Cohen) wedding, Lorelai finally tells Emily (Kelly Bishop) that she's getting married and is hurt by her mother's disinterested reaction. Meanwhile, Rory (Alexis Bledel) obsesses about not having enough extracurriculars to get into Harvard and throws herself into building houses for charity.

My favorite quote from this episode is when Lorelai comes down stairs and says this:
Lorelai: What do you think about this?
Rory: Huh.
Lorelai: What. I'm trying out veil lengths here. Does this look good?
Rory: UHHH?
Lorelai: your reading me stop reading me!

I thought it was great when Rory said that lorelai had dressed up all her correction bottles (twink) as different characters.  For example a cowboy.  That so sums up her character she is very creative.  This was a sad epsoide for luke though, because he had to watch Lorelai getting ready to get married. im watching my dvd and this episode just came on so here i am!  lol.

i agree!  that newpaper veil thing was such a creative, funky idea.  and then where emily tells her her head is too big for a veil, it was so nice in that emily gilmore kind of way.  lol.

The newspaper veil thing was hilarious! So very Lorelai!

The whole Emily-Lorelai wedding thing was sooo unfortunate.  It was sooo sad to hear Emily's reaction to Lorelai finally telling Emily.  Then again, Lorelai shouldn't have left it soo late, she should have told her that day that she accepted, which was funily, at Emily's house!  I mean she was right there ! why did she cover it up!  I see what she means about Emily usually turning a happy thing into a warped twisted sometimes sad/angry/frustrating event.. but she's still her mother!  She was sitting down having dinner with her at the time that she accepted!  What was so hard in saying... hey mum... max asked me to marry him and i've jsut said yes! that's why i'm jumping up and down now with rory...

It was good to see Luke's saddness in regards to the wedding ...

You just answered your question of why it's so hard.  If you felt that someone always took moments that were supposed to be happy and turned them around to make you feel awful, would you find it so easy to share?  Even if it's a parent?  I think I would have a very difficult time sharing something like that with someone I expected would either belittle or ridicule me. I believe in respecting parents, but I don't believe that it's wrong for the child to have a little self preservation.  Why would Lorelai tell right then, if she's thinking that Emily was going to say something cruel or nasty in the very moment that was supposed to be one of her happiest?  To me, the bottom line isn't that Emily is her mother.  The bottom line is, was there a chance that Emily would make her feel bad.

But, when Lorelai realized that she had inadvertantly hurt Emily, she did give a heartfelt apology.  Because she didn't do anything with the intent to hurt Emily.  She did it with the intent to protect herself, and probably didn't think Emily would care.

One of my favorite parts in this episode is when Luke finally comes to the engagement party and he sits down on the bench with the little girls in the wedding dressses. Its just a really cute little scene. But, I felt kinda bad for Luke. That had to have been hard :[

I felt bad for both Lorealai && Emily in this episode. It would suck to have to find out from somebody else that her only daughter was getting married..but really..can you blame Lorelai for not telling her??

I love how happy Loerlai was in this eposide...I like it when she is happy.  She gets a glow about her.  I really felt bad for Luke.  He looked so sad, but was trying to hide it because he was trying to be happy for Loerlai.  Poor Dean, Rory seems to blow him off a lot.  I was proud of Loerlai when she marched into her parent's house and spoke her mind.

My all time favorite screen-caps are  in this eposide

Something I've never understood about this episode.  Rory's panic over not having any extra curricular activities.  She lives in freaking Stars Hollow, ground zero for extra curricular events.  She was part of the town rummage sale to get the bridge fixed, she participated in the Thanksgiving cornucopia, she helped out with the Christmas events, she helped out at the inn, probably helped with the Starlight (or whatever the heck it's called) festival, and probably every other wacky event the town thought up, she was some part of.  Rory may never have been a big joiner or participater with people her own age, but I think she would have had a good list of activities just by living in Stars Hollow.

^ Totally true.  She and Lane dressed up as Pilgrams for a food drive, she participated in the festival of living pictures, she helped out with events at the Independence Inn, and so much more!  You are totally right! Her whole live has been one big extracurricular activity!
