Summary: Lorelai and Rory prepare lunches for the Stars Hollow picnic-basket auction, and Rory's repast triggers a bidding war between Dean and Jess. Meanwhile, Sookie dines with Jackson, who makes a surprising proposal.  Elsewhere, Luke comes to Lorelai's rescue and feeds them both at the diner after Miss Patty sets Lorelai up with a trio of unsuitable bidders.

I think this is one of my favorite episodes of season 2.
Miss. Patty finding all those men for Lorelai.
Jess getting Rory's basket and pissing Dean off (gotta love that heh)

Rory:  Just don't make this into a big thing
Dean: Don't go
Jess: Oh Jeez man, she's not shipping off to 'Nam
Haha! I love Jess!

i totally argree because dean is such a baby and is always taking things too seriously. he was a good boyfriend at rory's dance when tristan was being a jerk and then that episode in season 3 when he fought jess at kyles party where lane's band played. but he married at 19. he's a loser...rory could do so much better. and plus logan, he's even worse

I agree 100% on Dean being a baby.  From the very beginning I never liked him.  He's so clingy and whiny and it's just WAY too annoying for me.  I was totally excited in House of Wax when he died first.  I laughed not because the movie was so dumb but because Dean was waxed...
Jess on the other hand... is the man of my dreams.
This episode was one of my favorites in this season because Rory got pissed at Dean when he went running to her mom to whine about her being with Jess.  Dean needs to grow a pair if you ask me.  Plus it was awesome to see the tension growing between Rory and Jess.

Oh man, I love this episode! When I first saw it a long time ago,
I was so used to Dean, and I liked him....but then Jess came along, and I loved
the chemistry of him and Rory.Though, I admit at first, I was like, oh, Dean is a good
guy, how could Rory go eat with Jess?-but how ignorant I was to not see the wonders of a Jess.
Plus, Luke and Lorelai get to have their little "picnic" as well!-(women don't eat, they just look at
food and then jump on the treadmill.)-lorelai-

I think this was one of my fave episodes.  This marked the beginning of a beautiful relationship!

I saw this one for the first time last week, and it was as good as I had hoped! The look on Dean's face when Jess just kept bidding more, and more ... That was priceless ...

this is, no questions asked, the best episode of gilmore girls yet! To sum it all up: Dean is a whiney looser that is way too clingy and has a problem of going to Lorelai for help about Rory... Hey Dean, if you cant handle Rory let Jess have her....they belong together(jess&rory)

I do think that Dean was a little over pertective and went a little overboard becasue even though we all knew that Jess and Rory belonged together Dean was trying to push that feeling aside and was being a little freaked out. Oh well, that was a long time ago. I thought that it was really funny when Lorelai chased Luke around the diner and begged him to buy her basket. I also love this line:
Lorelai: Becasue you have a pretty boy to bid on your basket. Did you tell him to eat first.
Rory: Hello of course I love him.

okay, edited out the first part.

I thought Jess was a brat in this episode.   Second part still stands.

I think this was the episode where some of the "holding on too hard" stuff that Lorelai called him on started. Dean can't have been oblivious to the fact that Jess liked Rory, and he probably noticed that she enjoyed his company, even if he read too much into that ... Though he may not have been reading all that much too much into it ...

i love this episode. one of my favorites. And I adore jess's hair in this episode. But everything in this eppy just seemed to click and flow nicely. Dean was a bit of a baby. But you might be too if you were in Dean's shoes. But he took it overboard.
And I love Jess and Rory in this episode. I watch this one over and over. It just never gets boring for me.

I also really like the idea of the Bid-on-a-Basket...
