I love the Loerlai/Emily interaction in this eposide...classic!

I liked how Rory, Paris, and Jess were all having such a good time together.  I loved the part when Paris stood up for Rory infront of Dean about her having a crush on Jess and Rory trying to bring Jess and Paris closer.  That was so nice of her!  See, Paris can have a sweet side!

This was a great eposide!

I loved seeing Lorelai and Emily outside of both of their elements.  They were able to interact in a different arena.  Not on either 'home turfs'!  I wish that it would have been smooth run til the bitter end.  It was too bad that they had to leave early.  I did love how they stole their robes together...a mother-daughter thing!  I loved how Lorelai tried to keep their spa schedules seperate but it didnt work!

i have season 2 on DVD cuz it and season 3 are my favorites. and i love this one how lorelai looks at the spa is just priceless when she and her mother are walking down the  hall to the quiet room and accorind to my father lorelai looks like a mental patient.  and  the whole lorelai ur gunna eletricute yourself thing. plus she got emily to steal a robe pretty cool.

okay the whole rory/jess/dean situtation is pathetic on the part of dean and kinda funny on the part rory/jess (i have never liked dean he was too weak and just clingy two things which bug me greatly) rory having to push jess out the door was funny but every time i see the episode i actually yell at the screen...YOU HAVE A BACK DOOR!!! that would be all she'd have to do and what does rory do she pushes him out the door to dean. but you have to admit jess brining food..obviously he lkes rory (and those who have the DVD and have seen the deleted scene...you can tell rory totally likes the idea that he does)

I love how it is almost role reversal at the spa, the way Emily is being breezy and carefree, while Lorelai is being uptight. So rare to see Emily that way. Of course, being Emily, she had to spoil it by taking out her embarrassment over the bar guy out on Lorelai. And after that outburst, she wonders why she and Lorelai don't have a close relationship! She doesn't seem to have any awareness about her own behavior. But i loved when Emily got all girly about stealing the robe, "i can't believe i'm doing this".

I liked the way Jess and Paris were interacting, actually getting along. That either of them should get along with anyone is noteworthy, but it made sense that they would find common ground about literature. Like Emily, Paris softened up in this episode. She always has that sharp edge underneath, but with Rory, her intellectual equal, she can let down her guard a little. I loved how her voice shook when she told Rory about her grade of A- .

Rory & Paris have tried to define their relationship more than once, & Rory's attempt here is classic:
" I’m not sure if there is an exact definition for what we are, but I do think it falls somewhere in the bizarro friends-ish realm. "

awesome episode, with jess and dean meeting once again.

i think ASP has a great sense of humor to make paris the one to show up at rory's door on the ONE night she's going to have the house to herself. how convenient. but it's a good chance for them to get a little closer as friends and drop the whole "i'm smarter/better/faster than you" competition mode.

also convenient is the fact that luke makes up a care package and doesn't bring it himself. he sends jess to do it. and as much as luke and lorelai talk, i believe luke knew that she was at the spa that weekend and rory would be home alone. there's a bit of scheming on his part taking place here, i think. =]

and we know jess probably didn't argue with luke when asked to run this errand to rory's house, either. he took full advantage of the opportunity to go to her house when she was supposed to be there alone. it sucked when dean showed up, because i wanted to see them have some time alone together. but then again, paris was there, so any conversation that ensued would have been dominated by her and her strong opinions.

i felt bad for rory when dean did show up, because she honestly had no idea that paris OR jess was going to show up and it's not like she could kick either of them out when they had both come with legitimate reasons for being there. dean freaks out too easily. i understand him not liking jess, but every time he lays eyes on him it puts him in a crappy mood and then he's not very nice to rory after that, and that's just not cool.

kudos to paris for coming up with that excuse of rory trying to hook her up with jess as to why he was there when dean wasn't. that was quick thinking, and it was the first nice thing paris has really DONE for rory. small step in the right direction. =]

I got the impression that Jess made up the care package thing himself, didn't that happen later? Rory says thanks to Luke for the care package and he says what care package? I think...

!!! i forgot about that! thanks for bringing it up...that kinda ruins the whole luke scheming thing, but we know from a conversation that lorelai has with luke that luke thinks it would be "great" if something happened between rory and jess.

but it helps illustrate my point of jess wanting to be around rory, not just piss off dean. jess had no idea dean was going to show up, so he didn't go to her house just to make dean angry.

i just rewatched this episode last night so i HAD to comment again because i didn't mention any of the lorelai/emily drama in my  last posts.

i laughed watching emily and lorelai at the spa until i felt like i'd done 100 crunches. my favorite part was when they were coming down the hallway and emily was going on and on about the mud bath being actual mud and having twigs in it, then they walk into the room and close the door...then the door opens again and lorelai pushes emily outside then bangs her hand on the door to bring attention to the sign that says "quiet room." and emily just kind of sighs and they go back in. that was hilarious. i loved the vicious trollop bit, as well. it goes well with the whole dancing-with-another-man scene later.

this episode presents yet ANOTHER example of emily blaming lorelai for anything and everything that doesn't go exactly as planned. when she feels embarassed for having sat at the bar at the restaurant and danced with the stranger, it was lorelai's fault. when rory lashed out at her grandmother at the birthday party emily threw for her in season one, it was lorelai's fault. when rory and dean fell asleep at miss patty's, it was rory's fault for letting her go to the dance despite the fact that it was emily who urged her to go. and when rory spent the evening with sherry and christopher came to dinner with lorelai, emily saw that christopher was finally getting his life together and it should have been with lorelai, but it was lorelai's fault that things didn't work out that way. it begins to get a bit ridiculous watching emily continue to blame everything on lorelai. but honestly, lorelai is so accustomed to this treatment that it seems to zoom right over her head. she expects it at this point.

This is not the first episode where Emily’s moods are all over the place. Early in the episode i thought she was being cute, the way she wanted a girl’s-day-out with Lorelai and was trying to be buddy-buddy at the spa. Lorelai was funny but also a bit annoying the way she was making snarky remarks at everything, while Emily was simply trying to have a good time. Lorelai would have done well to simply go with the flow and make an attempt to enjoy Emily’s company while Emily was being so giddy. But maybe Lorelai didn’t know how to react to Emily behaving in such a joyous manner.  Still, when Emily asked the massage guys to leave the room and told off Lorelai, I thought she had a good point... for the moment, anyway. Because she then had to turn back into “Emily” by blaming Lorelai for her own momentary fun with the guy at the bar.  On top of that, Emily later whines about wanting a relationship with Lorelai the way Lorelai has with Rory. Does Emily pay any attention to her own behavior? She had just chided Lorelai unfairly at the bar, now she can’t grasp why she and Lorelai are not buddies. However, that scene ended nicely when Emily became giddy again about stealing the robes. Emily is exhausting.

exhausting, to say the least.  Grin

emily's giddiness at the spa reminded me of the fundraiser lorelai organized at the inn where she and her mother served as models in the fashion show, and they were playing "girls just wanna have fun" and emily was dancing and being SO cute! this emily does surface from time to time. it's nice to see, definitely.
lorelai SHOULD have just enjoyed the small amount of time that emily was being pleasant, but i'm sure it caught her off guard since she wasn't used to it. also, it may have been the fact that she knew it would end the way it did, with her mother blaming her for her "irresponsible" behavior or something of the sort. when emily asked the massage guys to leave the room, she did indeed have a good point for the moment. but she immediately turned back into "Emily" when she says "Lorelai...would you go get the boys please?" like she was too good to do it herself and like lorelai should have already thought to do it. the condescending manner in the comment was just Giddy Emily returning to Normal Emily for the time being.
