Are all the actors fit for their part.  Does Alexis play rory good enough?  Is there anyone who justs needs to go?

I find Zach (Todd Lowe) totally unsuitable for Lane. I don't know if its the character or the actor (or a combination of), but it just seems like such an unlikely match. He does not seem to be very bright, appears unwashed most of the time and I can't see what she would see in him.

I know! Zack is sweet and all but he is so so dirty and immature!  Lane does not deserve that and her mother would not approve of him.

I think thats the type of guy Lane wanted; a dirty unwashed, American, guitar playing guy. It just seems like through the whole show all she wanted to do was be an American teen that loved "The Evil Rock Music". Wink

Enough about Zack. Lets talk about the girls, I doubt that are two actresses out there that could play Rory & Lorelai better than Alexis & Lauren. Think about it, how many people have you seen that could play a character that had so much fast paced dialogue in every seen that they were in. And as for Alexis, I think that are a few good actresses that could play a sweet innocent bookworm like Rory. But Alexis does it a hell of a lot better than anyone out there. Wink

i cant imagine anyone but alexis and lauren in those roles. I think of them as rory and lorelai. Some movies / shows, you can picture another person in the role, not this show.

I think every single cast member is perfect for their character. I couldn't imagine anyone else in the role of any character. It just wouldn't be the same.

i think Melissa McCarthey is fantastic!! She plays Sookie so well. She's quirky and cute and a bit of a ditz, but she's an amazingly passionate friend who is willing to do anything for Lorelai.

I also think that Scott Patterson really captured the "Luke" role perfectly. Im a big Scott Patterson fan, myself.

Also, Kelly Bishop and Edward Herrman are fantastic as well!  Smiley

i agree. i think when actors are cast and as the writers get to know the actors better a little bit of the actors personality and quirks seep into the characters. so that the characters come alive (so to speak).
i couldn't imagine if sean gunn where to leave someone else playing kirk or anyone else being lorelai, rory, emily etc..

zach isn't who i would have pick for lane but she seems to be happy with him . so we'll see how the two work out as hubby and wife.

I think the actors bring some of themselves to the parts too.  After all, this was Alexis's first role, meaning she was a rookie when she came to GG.  Perhaps that's part of her charm.  She wasn't a 26 year old playing a teenager (like the Degrassi Kids, who are great actors, but actually of the right age!)

I'm not a big Zach fan too.  Perhaps that's the character.  I've never liked him, and it's terrible that the first time his band set up in Lorelai's garage, he was hitting on Lorelai and not Lane (of course, that's the script's fault!)

There is no one on the show who strikes me as unfit for their part.  Some of the parts aren't that fit (Zach, for example) but the actors bring something special to the show.

Plus, it always helps when I've never seen the actors in another show or movie before.  This is the first time I've seen any of them acting in any role.  It seems less fake that way.

For me, the actors make this show.

SOOKIE was originally cast for Alex Borstein from Mad TV............I saw a pilot clip of her as Sookie.........she did the part okay but I think Melissa made SOOKIE............she is lovable, sweet, kookie and and funny.

I couldnt see anyone making that role better than MELISSA does!! Shocked

I couldn't imagine anyone else playing the characters as well as this cast does. I mean, could you even imagine someone else trying to play Lorelai? Or Rory? It wouldn't be half as good. I don't like Zach much either, or Taylor for that matter but they are important characters in their own right & still fit their parts.

Nope - Lauren IS Laurelei - even off the set.  They are each other, and it's bloody perfect. Smiley

Rory...I can think of some other actresses that could do the part, fast script and all. But yeah, what someone said earlier...it's nice when they're all new actors and you dont know any of them, makes it more believable. Cheesy

Kelly Bishop as Emily,, along with everyone else in the cast are all the best there could be, I think.
It's one of the things that I love about the show..they all fit the parts! And I don't think it's just because I'm so used to the actors who play the parts...they are so good at being "in the character. "
I wouldn't want it any other way
