Way, to go, Heather, I'm way impressed!  Sending things to all those papers must have taken a long time, but I'm sure it will end up being well worth it!  Smiley

Everyone is being so creative with their ideas.  I love it!

OHH, and I don't mean to soud completely dumb, but I just started watching GG a few years ago, and while i've seen a great majority of the episodes there are a few that slped through my fingers. Anyway I was just wondering if someone coud tell me what prettysticks is a reference to.

The reference comes from season 1's "Rory's Dance."  When Rory comes out with her dress on and her hair done, Lorelai says, "Someone hit you with a pretty stick."  And I am 99% certain that is the only time a pretty stick was mentioned on the show.  Smiley

I think that one of the reasons that Jericho is getting a lot more press (I mean, besides being a show that was on the larger network of CBS) is that its fanbase is mostly college-aged males who are more tech-saavy than Gg's younger female base.

I think that is so true, Rob.  I mean, just look at their homepage for all the nuttiness:

It is just so easy for them so make donations and get their nuts sent.  If we had a way to make such simple donations like that for the daisies, we would actually be able to compete.  They also have plenty of "Save Jericho" shirts, and not to mention a live blog as well as videos of the nuts being delivered.

Anyone know what sort of application that is they're using to take donations?

Another round of the daisy campaign is probably a good idea.  Anything to get attention.  Because right now, all I hear about is the Jericho campaign, and it is getting a LOT of press coverage.  I've seen videos, heard about their sending nuts, and just read a piece on about their trying to get a second season.  If they can do it, we can too!  Let's step it up!

I'm sorry, but after seeing last night's episode I can't imagine it being anything other than a series finale.  The slow pans through all the townies, the many goodbyes between Lorelai and Rory, the closure with Emily and Richard, and even the ending for Lorelai and Luke.  Not to say that I wouldn't be thrilled with an 8th season (I would) but it would seem odd for them to bring the show back at this point, in my opinion.  I'm not saying anything about the Mandate itself by any means, I just wanted to show that not everyone was dissatisfied with last night's episode.

Good question, asenseofhope.  Should we be trying to convince the execs OR the actors who didn't sign?  I'm confused on that.

Do you think Dawn will get the whole daisies thing??

I'm wondering too.  Because I will definitely send daisies over, even if I have to send them through 1-800-flowers.   But I guess [embarassed] I'm not entirely sure what the daisies stand for. [/embarassed]  I just want to help!

The daisies are a reference to the season 1 finale, "Love, Daisies, and Troubadors."  When Max proposed to Lorelai, he sent her 1,000 yellow daisies, and she was absolutely surrounded by them.  As a show of support and as a reference to the show, our idea was to send as many daisies as we could and surround Dawn et al with them.

Kristin Eonline has weighed in:

The Gilmore Girls are leaving us.

Just this past Tuesday (as in two days ago), I heard from a CW insider that the network was still planning to go ahead with a 13-episode eighth season, and that Lauren and Alexis seemed to be on board...but sadly, something somewhere stalled, as the network and the studio just released the following message:

"Announcing the final season [of Gilmore Girls] is truly a sad moment for everyone at the CW and Warner Bros. Television. This series helped define a network and created a fantastic, storybook world featuring some of television's most memorable, lovable characters. We thank Amy Sherman-Palladino, Dan Palladino, Dave Rosenthal, the amazing cast led by Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel as well as the producers, writers and crew for giving us this delightful gem for the past seven years. We would also like to thank the critics and Gilmore fans for their passionate support and promise to give this series the sendoff it deserves."

I think most GG fans agree the show was never quite the same after the departure of creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, but that didn't stop Gilmore's fans from being some of the most dedicated in television show, as evidenced by their victory in this year's Save One Show campaign.

Stars Hollow has been a TV home away from home for nearly seven years, and I, for one, am going to miss it terribly...Sigh. Anyway, let the wailing and rending of garments begin. HUG.

That was a little uncalled for, LGLDandRGLH4evr.  This is a huge blow!  Give them a minute to cope with the news, okay?  We will start the next round of campaigning soon enough.  Just chill out.

What a sweet message from the CW and the WB.  I really do hope they give it the send off it deserves.  And I hope the finale truly feels like a finale!  Like, with the girls in the diner or something truly poetic.  Something to do the show justice.

Maybe now we should focus on getting the CW to make a big deal out of the departure.  Clips shows, interviews, etc.  I'd hate for it to go out as just another episode!  Cry

It's over, guys.  Just saw the first official statement at

Say goodbye to Stars Hollow -- "Gilmore Girls" is officially over. Get out your kleenex.
In a statement to TMZ, the CW and Warner Bros. Television says it is "a truly sad moment for everyone" and promises to "give this series the send-off it deserves."
Sources tell TMZ that there were ongoing negotiations with the suits and the actresses in an effort to bring the show back for another season, but they were unable to seal the deal.
The final episode of the show, which launched the careers of Alexis Bledel and "Heroes" star Milo Ventimiglia, airs May 15.

Sad day, indeed.  But it was a valiant effort!  Way to go, Madaters.  I think I'm going to curl up and cry now....

Hey everyone--

I just found a new poll over at  This is the same sight that wrote the lovely article about the Great8Mandate.  It's asking which series should be saved from cancellation.  So far Supernatural is in the lead with 43% of the vote, with One Tree Hill following close behind at 35%.  And Gilmore Girls?  We're at 3%.  Seriously.  I know it's not an important poll, but I remembered that someone mentioned we should try to win every poll out there to show our support.  So let's get out there and vote!  Link:
