1  Gilmore Girls / International Discussion / Re: "Ya Betcha!" Gilmore Fans in Minnesota (as well as anywhere else in the Midwest) on: February 11, 2007, 05:32:06 pm
So I'm totally not up to date, but I just wanted to let you all know... I will be in Minnesota starting this fall! Yayyyyy! I got into Carleton and am going! Cheesy See you in Northfield.

Now hit me with some tips on surviving a Minnesotan winter, stat!
2  Gilmore Girls / International Discussion / Re: "Ya Betcha!" Gilmore Fans in Minnesota (as well as anywhere else in the Midwest) on: December 03, 2006, 07:32:57 pm
Ah, Sooks, you know that coffeeshop! It IS like Luke's, only a little... funkier, I'd say.

Mas, it's true! (That's what we always called you, I think. Hehe.) Kenyon is in a little town in Ohio.
Oh, and I take NO offense whatsoever to your East-comments... they're true! When people say they can "see me in the Midwest" my first response is "what do you mean by that?" They usually can't put their finger on it... but I always take it as a compliment.

Thanks for the well-wishes, guys. If you're any indication of the "Midwestern feel" I'm about ready to call up Northwestern Airlines and book my flight! Tongue

alexisx3, that Alexis art looks stunning! ::claps:: Very professional-looking, too. Smiley

Aw, hey, Mas! You're too sweet.  Blow Kiss I'm blushing. I'm so glad there is someone  here I "recognize" (though hello to all of you people, too, nice to meet you!), and that you're holding down the fort.

Yep, I visited Northfield, and loved it. That coffeeshop in the downtown is exactly how I pictured my college experience. (Yes, everything I do is somehow related to coffee.)

Why Carleton? Huh, that's funny, the Office of Admissions was curious, too! Ha. Uh, well, I had read in a college guidebook that it was similar to Amherst, Williams, and that gang of colleges, but less fussy, prissy and prim, and more awkward, funny and relaxed. I also don't want to stay on the East Coast forever, necessarily, there's a whole country (world, I suppose) out there! Or to the colleges that EVERY SINGLE ONE OF MY CLASSMATES are applying to. When I visited Carleton (one of my best friends lives in St. Paul, so the visit wasn't just a college one), I felt so at home. The students were friendly, interesting, quirky (but not full-out, intimidatingly weird), fun and NICE. They seemed to get along really well too, and there was none of the pretensiousness I felt at other places.

I'm also looking at Kenyon (second to Carleton) so that's another Midwestern school (not QUITE as Midwest, but it's something Wink).

Hey guys, I'm from NJ, so I'm no Midwesterner, but Carleton College (in Northfield) is essentially the first-choice college on my list (I'm a senior in high school).

I visited MN in September, but I was wondering on a few of your wise thoughts on a newcomer possibly being out in MN. Thoughts? I lit up when I saw "Minnesota," I've become a fan of your state. Smiley

I know, that's how I feel... SQUEEE!

And super-big hug, Tanya! ::hug::

I remember Kasey's wedding, now yours... it's so sweet!

Ah! I never come here anymore, but Lindsay linked us over at LJ over to share the wedding wishes! I'm SO happy for you, Tanya... I can remember the day when you met (on those episode threads... sigh, those were the days!) and can't believe you're married now. It's so beautiful. Smiley

Your wedding looks beautiful, your dress elegant, and you look FABULOUS. You and Rafter (heh... John?) always had the best conversations. Smiley

Lots of love and real-life 'shipping,
Beth

I usually stop by every once in a while.... but, there are noticably people missing from the prehack days.

I'm sad that the posts of when I first met my fiance (rafter) are all gone.  It would be nice to have them.  *sigh*

-Tanya

Tanya! You are one of the few people from here whom I don't get to talk to via LiveJournal. (And Kasey, to boot. I haven't talked to her in probably a year.)

How are you!? I miss you, girl!

~~~
Eh, I'm not sure I was really missing, I was here a lot right after the hack, but I haven't posted a lot at all this year...school/dance took over, and real life just kind of took over, and I probably won't ever be around as much as I was, but I'll pop in every once and awhile. I'm on LJ though, and update pretty regulary. (My username is fragilesymphony, it's friends only, but just comment and I'll probably add you, as long as I know who you are.)
As usual, I agree with almost everything Tina has to say. :-P Well, not dance, but everything else. My Gilmore Girls viewership in general declined, and once I wasn't watching the episodes until the weekend, I just sort of fell off everything else.
Um, Claire, Michelle, Lily, Lindz, Vicki, and Beth are all on LJ, I still talk to them. I think all of them pretty much had the same thing as me, real life stuff. Lily posting on that LJ community we made after the hack actually made me come here tonight, so most of them still check here every once and awhile, but just don't post a lot.
That's actually what caught my eye and got me over here, Lily's post on the sistahfriends LJ community. My LiveJournal is still updated frequently, but I don't think I've talked about GG in... a very long time. (It's more just about my life.)
[nostalgia] CANOPUS! Ha! Haven't seen that name in YEARS! And, such a resource. Pretty sure he's consumed in FF. Not quite sure.
Agreed, Lorelai deserves (IMHO) to get her dream wedding, with her "perfect dress," etc.
Kitty, is that you?!  Cheesy
10  Episode Discussion / Season 6 / Re: 6.22 - Partings/Season Finale on: May 09, 2006, 08:23:00 pm
I don't know... I haven't posted about in episode in ages but, I still watch all the time, and this seasoned has just made Luke into not the guy that Lorelai fell in love with-- for me, he's completely changed. When I watch "Raincoats and Recipies" (season four finale; the episode with the first L/L kiss-- PURE GOLD MAY I ADD), I see a different couple than the Luke and Lorelai of this season.
I was a diehard JJ (or so I thought) for... five years, but you know what? I squeed on that last scene. Yeah. I said it, come on and tar-and-feather me, I guess you could call me flighty or something, but... it's all in the writing and the acting. I've always had a soft spot for Chris (always in the finales that weren't getting Luke and Lorelai together-- I'm thinking season 2 finale here, "I Can't Get Started"), and this episode just clinched that knot.
Goodness, I NEVER thought I'd be more Balcony Buddy than Java Junkie, even for just an episode. I mean... but look at the little giggling across the table, the "code," etc. And, I sort of think Lorelai and Chris slept together, but, I can't say I'm all that upset. Shocked? Yes. Sad? Thinking that Lorelai's skanky? Nah, not so much.
Just my opinions.
Also: Rory cried... and well! Nice job, AB! And I'm going to miss A S-P so much. I know some people have been more happy than sad, but I am an Amy fan. That humor, those references, that quick pace. Yeah, she might have run us into the ground, but the CW next year isn't going to get the same love I have for my GG on the WB with ASP (alliteration-happy, much?!).
Don't "know" a lot of you, but agree with most of you. (And hello to the familiar faces!)
[And Amy isn't coming back because she and Dan and the WB couldn't agree on arrangements--salary, etc.--for next year. Which SUCKS.]
If you click ^^^ now, and look on the main page, it most DEFINITELY says "GiRlmore Girls." And I don't think they are going for the pun! Haha.
Heh... Mas, do you remember reading the posts here "back in the day"? Some of them were downright terrible. And every thread title was something like "Minds in the Gutter!" or "Dirty Dirty!" which, of course, was the best part of FSCing at all. (All thanks to NDG! ::blows kisses to masterminds behind NDG:Smiley  Kiss
They only film about 22 episodes a year, so they spread them out. Smiley
(Closing this now, but welcome.)
Beth, so nice of you to grace our presense!  I remember when you were one of the original FSCers.  Sunshine girl, do you remember me?  (my siggy was Smile:) Make the day worthwhile!)
Yep! Smiley Nice to know you've stuck around.
Great caps, Mas and LukeCoffeeMan (who I believe we'd fondly called LCM for a while, no?)! I still talk to some of the others on LiveJournal, but I haven't talked to Kasey or Morada in quite some time. ((hugs thread))
LAUREN: Helen Pai, you little mooch! Don't go trying to take credit for producing these fine ladies I've got here, kapeish?
