1  Episode Discussion / A Year in the Life / Re: 1.01 - Winter on: November 25, 2016, 07:44:58 pm
This isn't meant to be an all-encompassing review... just sharing a few initial thoughts to see if we can get a little discussion going.

Smitten Things I loved:
  • Rory's voice when she said, "Wrapped in plastic!"
  • Paris.  Everything with Paris.
  • Lorelai and Emily's fight.  (Great acting with cutting dialogue.)
  • Luke's responses for the Wi-Fi password.
  • The episode ending with "Here You Come Again" by Dolly Parton.

 Sleepy  Things I didn't love:
  • Paul's forgettable backstory.
  • Lorelai and Luke never had a real conversation about starting a family?
  • Kirk and Ooober.

What  Things I didn't see coming:
  • Rory being with Paul... and Logan.  "Vicious Trollop" lipstick, anyone?  "Dirty Whore" was taken.  (I'm kidding.  Maybe.  Who knows.)

Whatchoo got?   TV

Woot woot, I hope this place will be popping.  We need a discussion area to stay organized HEIDI!;)

Ask and you shall receive!

Let me know if you run into any issues posting.  It's been a long time since I've created a new board and Younger Me was much better at it.  Wink

Hi, Angela.

Great idea -- I'm in.  Wink

Silly question, though: Do I enter my name somewhere?  I see the form includes full mailing address, but there's no section for name.  Do I add it in comments?

Thanks.

~Heidi

Once you put your information in it makes you then log in or create a new account. There you will put in your name, and I believe your address again. Hope it works!!

I'm signed-up!  Cheesy

So now that we are pretty much 100% positive this is happening, what do you all think it will be about???

I had this thought about 10 minutes ago... Since 2016 is a presidential election year, I wonder if Rory will be covering the various campaigns.  Wink

Also, this is beautiful.

Thank you!  That's very kind.

Was curious and glad to see the update for this news. And I was even able to remember my password to say that I'm excited! Smiley

Megan,

Good memory!  Wink  Please feel free to pop in often.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart Heidi, for keeping this site alive! I'm still a diehard Gilmore fan...own all the Seasons and watch it on "UP". FYI...that channel is having a Gilmore binge-fest this coming Sunday. The Gilmore Girls has stayed near and dear to me.  I couldn't believe I remembered my Login and password! I am so stoked about the Mini Series!
I would love the Org. to come up with a special edition t-shirt to celebrate the new episodes. I would definitely buy one!

Hi, Sara!

GilmoreGirls.org is indeed alive... in the sense that it exists and is accessible.   Grin

The main site has largely been untouched since 2007, but, to be honest, I kind of like that it exists in that "preserved" state.  It's almost time capsule-esque.  It represents the show as it aired, rather than from DVD or streaming.  There's certainly nothing wrong with watching via those vehicles, but GilmoreGirls.org "reported" during the original run of the show -- which will never happen again -- and, to me, that's kind of neat.  I's a period of time where we were all part of something together.

I don't currently have any intentions to update the main site, but I'd absolutely love to hear from long-time ORG Forum members, such as yourself.  If people are willing to put up with forum technology that's about 10 years old, it would be fun to reconnect!

Gilmore Girls Limited-Series Revival Set at Netflix — This Is Not a Drill

By Michael Ausiello

THIS JUST IN: We’re getting those final four words!

Sources confirm that Netflix has closed a deal with Warner Bros. for a limited-series revival of Gilmore Girls penned by series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and exec producer Daniel Palladino.

Although negotiations with the cast are only now beginning, I’m told all of the major players — most notably Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Kelly Bishop and Scott Patterson — are expected back for the continuation. Additionally, per multiple insiders, the revival will consist of four 90-minute episodes/mini-movies.

Reps for Warner Bros. and Netflix declined to comment for this story.

And I repeat: This is not a drill.

The deal allows Sherman-Palladino — who left the original series prior to the final season amid a contract dispute with Warner Bros. — to conclude Gilmore Girls as she always intended, right through to those elusive final four words.

AS-P addressed the possibility of a revival over the summer when she reunited with the show’s cast at the ATX TV Festival. “It would have to be the right everything — the right format, the right timing,” she said. “If it ever happened, I promise we’ll do it correctly.”

When I interviewed AS-P in 2009 at Entertainment Weekly, she conceded that the events of the show’s final seventh season didn’t match up with the end game she envisioned for Lorelai, Rory & Co. “I haven’t [actually] seen the last season,” she said at the time, “but I heard about it from other people.”

Even back then, AS-P remained hopeful that she would get to conclude the Gilmore story on her terms, via a limited series or movie. “The beauty of Gilmore, and the beauty of family-relationship shows, is you never really run out of story,” she said. “You’re going to battle your family until you’re all in the ground. Those things never resolve, doesn’t matter how much therapy you get. Ten years later, there’s still going to be [material] there to mine and to delve into.”

Gilmore Girls premiered on the now-defunct WB network in 2000, before transferring to spinoff net The CW in 2006 for its final season.

Did I mention that this isn’t a drill?
